He didn't think about defence, he thought he could just walk through Pacquiaos punches.
Why did Hatton do so badly against Pacquiao?

It had a lot to do with the taco bell woofin', kool aid drinking, always late piece of **** Floyd Sr.
Ricky got jobbed before the fight even started.Comment

The minute he step into the ring he totally disregarded any and everything Mayweather Sr. said to him and reverted back to his pitbull style of fighting. It's almost as if he made the decision during the pre-fight pageantry and said F it. Put simply, Hatton plays checkers, not chess.
Which has worked for him everytime except for the Mayweather fight.Comment

Ricky had no gameplan, peaked too early in training, and went for the early KO thus leaving himself far too open.
Simple really.Comment

Same nonsense from the usual people.
Several reasons.
1 - Two chefs working on the same stew.
Mayweather would show Ricky how to apply a fundamental D to his aggressive style, and then Lee Beard and Hatton would prepare their own way when Sr. wasn't around. Undoing everything trying to be instilled by Floyd. Floyd starts ****ing around with the camp as a result of not being primary trainer, acknowledged only as a consultant. *Ouch*
Hatton couldn't get down BASICS in defense, that's how bad off he was with Graham. Move your head, so it's not being taken off when darting in. *DUH!*
2 - Oscar insisted to Ricky, Pac didn't hit that hard. *D'oh*
3 - Believe it or not, Hatton's chin hasn't looked the same since Jr. stopped him. Paulie stopped Ricky in his tracks with one of his shots when Hatton did his trademark looping lunge in. Paulie! The writing on the wall was right there for me. When you're nearly KO'd in your previous fight after having been stopped, and then nearly stunned by a light light light puncher, going at the elite again with bad D is a recipe for disaster.Last edited by Haglerwins; 09-15-2009, 11:36 AM.Comment
