I know it sounds wrong but the fight fans still have all the power in PPV It is a matter of NOT buying the PPVs It really is that simple but it is not going to happen they got a product a sport whatever that lives off of half truths, bits of the truth, us against us and all that stuff. And that can be a kick but when it comes to who is the driver in boxing it is still the fight fans and what they decide to watch and/or pay for. Most people find it easier to just walk away from the fight game then to decide what they won't watch. This interview was a guy acting like he was giving the fight fans a bit of honesty and truth. But his hand is still deep in the fight fans pockets.

People get things wrong all the time. I believe that having no PPV was their initial intention as it's a good idea imo. Surely fans would rather not have to shell out for PPV's. Getting enough subscriptions and advertising revenue etc to make it profitable has obviously been difficult though with the competition out there etc.

I hope the subscription only model can work out though (on DAZN or any platform) as I don't like PPV and very rarely pay for them.

DAZN has the right idea, their execution is just poor. They don’t have to have Canelo to be successful, they could’ve gone about it in other ways but aren’t themselves talented enough to see how to do it.

These clowns expect people to pay PPV on top of their subscription fees for a fraudulent Mexican "super star" (who's fights are all fixed in one way or another) against a BORING Russian(who doesn't even want to box anymore and only hardcore's fans are aware of his existence) & a third BORING fight with a 40yr old hype job with a kind of catchy nickname.

PPV used to be reserved only for truly intriguing main event matchups with top fighters and the entirety of the cards were STACKED with really good undercard fights.

All of these Garbage promoters, TV networks/apps need to RESET THE PAY SCALE for these fighters.

ALL of the top fighters make too much money and don't produce the revenue to justify their bloated purses.

The other thing they can do is have the best fight the best WHEN they're SUPPOSED to fight- not when they feel like it.

Until these two things happen-forget being mainstream again, this sport will continue to decay into the s--tshow it currently is.

Netflix = $9.99 - $19.99 per month = thousands of hours of content = film production budgets


DAZN = $8.33 - $19.99 per month = 1 decent fight every now and then = rent arena, hire two people to fight in it

The biggest issue they have is choosing to go all in on boxing which is a niche sport at best nowadays. Live sports will always be a huge draw if the sport is popular and boxing is not anymore.

It's true, what you're saying, but if prices were better then things could be different.

If the prices are gonna keep increasing to meet the ever-widening demands of the ever-widening commercial partners in sport, while the economic realities for the popular masses keep declining, then something's gonna have to go.

My guess is that more and more people will illegally stream sports, which will serve to compound the belief that certain figures in sports, particularly boxing, have of an existential crisis.

While the other sports might be booming in comparison, and I can't talk about the U.S as much, in the U.K, the consumer is required to keep step with increasing numbers of sports packages, all with their respective costs. That will not go on forever.
