Comments Thread For: Catterall: Boxing, Shame On You; Judges, F--- You, Dreams Stolen

To say that Jack Catterall is displeased with the outcome of his first world title fight would be an understatement. The previously unbeaten mandatory challenger came up just short in a questionable split decision in favor of undisputed junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor (19-0, 13KOs). Catterall (20-1, 13KOs) won on the card of Howard Foster (113-112), only for Victor Loughlin (113-112) and Ian John Lewis (114-111) to rule in favor of Scotland's Taylor in their WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO championship Saturday evening at OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

I’m a big Josh Taylor fan and I think Catterall won the fight. I just can’t see Taylor winning 7 or more rounds which he needed to in order to get the decision given the knockdown. This was not an eye pleasing fight with way too much clinching and holding. I do wonder if the judges that scored it for Taylor penalized Catterall in their scoring for this and viewed Jack as being the culprit.

Disgusting bias decision. Boxing needs a new rule. All championship fights must be held in neutral countries. One thing good came out of this though, Josh Taylor showed he isn't P4P boxing material. The guy is actually mediocre

Catterall was a bit competitive at times and even scored a knockdown. However most of the fight it was Taylor who was more dominant and rightfully won.

Cant see this one catching on, vegas & the garden etc are the venues for boxers and fans with history etc, home advantage is home advantage but it also has to be fair which it rarely is to be honest, often boils down to how bad the decision is

Greed gets in the way of possible match ups and these decisions happen too often.

So true that was a really bad decision. Catterall was definitely up by at least 2 points possibly more. Catterall won the fight hands down!!!

Taylor keeps calling out Crawford...he needs to stop that ASAP. Crawford beats him from pillar to post without a doubt. AND WE ALL KNOW THAT IF THAT WAS CRAWFORD WHO KNOCKED HIM DOWN...IT'S OVER!!! HE'S NOT MAKING IT OUT OF THE ROUND. HE'S A KILLER!!

Taylor stay away from Crawford unless you truly want you @ss beat.

Ask your countryman Ricky Burns about that Crawford work.

Only those two judges and the ****** espn commentary team actually thought it was close and Taylor might've won.

Thinking of it, maybe those two judges also knew Taylor lost, but the fix was in. And we wonder why boxing is less popular than ever, except for a few major events.

Yeah, I know. Thank you for your response. It was just a protest comment to raise awareness of bias judging driven by patriotism and nationalism. A more realistic solution to this could be to appoint judges that don't have the same nationality as either fighter.
