Comments Thread For: Salita: If Joshua Steps Aside & Wants A Legitimate Opponent, He Should Fight Otto Wallin

If Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte and all their representatives can defy odds (and logic) by somehow reaching an agreement before Friday's WBC purse bid for the Fury-Whyte fight, Otto Wallin wants a chance comparable to the one that was taken from him three months ago.

Tyson Fury Confirming He’s Fighting Dillian Whyte Next
    January 27, 2022

The only good thing that would have come out of Joshua stepping aside would be to have saved him a spot to fight for the undisputed championship, but I guess he didn’t want it.

“I can’t wait to punch Whyte’s face in,” said Fury on Thursday to Sky. “I’ll give him the best hiding he’s ever had. Whyte, train hard! Because you are getting annihilated.

“Joshua and Eddie Hearn are the worst businessmen in history – today they lost $90m,” said Fury.

“The heavyweight king has spoken,” said promoter Frank Warren about Fury.

There had been hope from boxing fans that Fury and Usyk would meet for the undisputed championship in the division, but former IBF, WBA & WBO champion Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) was never really into the idea of stepping aside

Salita, give it a rest. Stop throwing Wallin's name in with every top guy making headlines. I'm a fan of the big Swede but get off you a$$ and get Otto a decent fight already.

Wallin is skilled, and obviously Whyte and his people saw the risk. Gotta stay busy though. Talk isn't worth much.

Last decent fight he got him, his opponent faked a shoulder injury to get out of.

He would be rightfully crucified for fighting Wallin.

I know they tried to get Ortiz (who's team apparently went radio silent halfway through negotiations) and then got the Whyte fight and for Whyte to suffer a timely phantom injury. Problem is that Wallin's inactivity seems to have gotten him out of the rankings for some of the sanctioning bodies.

I don't blame Salita for passing on the freak show Babic fight but they need to get him something...even if it's just a stay busy fight.
