Magsayo should have been targeting that shoulder, wrestling Gary in clinches, grappling and forcing Gary to use that hurt shoulder, fighting on the inside and moving in the direction of the hurt shoulder

Yup crappy ass career compared to what could have been had he not gone on 1 fight a year against bums for 6 years SMH horrible career and one where it didn't pay off because if you think those earnings were affected by trainer pay taxes etc dude probably is barely a bit better than a regular 9-5er right now

Wasn't impressed by Magsayo though he did enough to win, which isn't saying that much given how little Russell did. Russell's post fight in-ring interview reminded me of Broner: delusional.

Good riddance. Gary Russell has been turning up once every year and a half or so to cash a check since the Lomachenko loss. That loss to Loma took his spirit. Dude was like Tavoris Cloud.... contributed noting, all he did was take.

The ref in the first fight...alright, you're making sense, when you said you didn't see that short, inside punch in real time. Then it's on replay clear as day, and you still act like you're not seeing anything . You missed the punch, dude, just say it!

Still don’t take away the forgetful career he had. But if money is the only thing that’s of value to him then sure, well done.

but that’s not a cent in your pocket as a boxing fan, so I don’t understand the pride you have in another mans wallet considering Russell jr has fought so minimally and offered nothing to boxing.

What would ever compel you to call another man who puts his health and life on the line each time he steps into a ring (fight or sparring) a “bum?” I mean truly, does he bother that much emotionally to call this man a bum? I don’t get it. Is it because you’re anonymous and can do so from a keyboard within the comfy confines of your home, without ever having to or ever would say it squarely to the individual’s face?

I don’t get the hatred, cowardice, vitriol and anger from some people.

I would be the first to tell you that there is not a single shred of hatred, cowardice, vitriol or anger coming from my end at all.

I have nothing but peace and love for the Russell family and I want them to succeed. Moreover, I like Gary Russell, Jr too. i am a fan of his but his performance tonight; Well it really shocked and disappointed me.

I say that because at least in my judgement he came in very unprepared. I doubt if he did any to very little sparring or training for this fight and it showed.

After all, he manged to average throwing only three punches per round for this fight because he lacked both the stamina and conditioning to throw more. All he did was cut weight and showed up to collect a pay check.

He displayed no sense of urgency none whatsoever. It was almost like he was saying "I don't give a fuck! Just give me my money so I can go home". He didn't come to win.

All he did was kept fighting off the back foot in order to survive and last the distance. One cannot expect to win a fight on the scorecards that way; Especially when you are not throwing any punches.

Also, he came in out of shape too. Did you see his gut hanging over his trunks. That was all water weight. Chances are the man probably rehydrated close to a 150lbs tonight.

Don't feel the least bit sympathetic for the entitled (and delusional) dude who thinks he deserves superstar $ and notoriety...while fighting about 4-5 nobodies per Presidential cycle, and getting bent over by Loma. Maybe if he spent less time working out his Twitter fingers, and actually fighting, he wouldn't have gotten injured.

And Russell's time as champion ended with him not at full strength -- saying postfight he believed he has a torn tendon in his right shoulder, something he felt he hurt two weeks ago.

"I refused to put this fight back, and I fought with one arm," Russell said on Showtime afterward. "He had his hands full with a fighter with one arm the whole fight. I gave him a boxing lesson."
