Yes, the calculus is this - Fury is more likely to beat Usyk than Joshua is as for as oddsmakers go. So having Joshua step aside and fight the winner of Fury-Usyk is the most favorable path to getting Joshua-Fury for all the belts (and an insane pile of cash) in an all British heavyweight bout.

Problem is, Fury-Usyk is not a huge fight financially and getting together the step aside money for Joshua (and Whyte? depends on which way the wind blows at the WBC office that day) is risky, especially if Fury loses.

It all depends on the Middle East. If the investment actually comes through, then there is a big enough pot to pay step asides and move forward. If not, we get Joshua-Usyk and Fury-Whyte.

Joshua has plenty to lose . There’s no guarantee Fury sticks around if he defeats Usyk which is the likely scenario . 15 million isn’t exactly a lot of money for A.J either he’s making far more then that . There’s also no guarantee that Fury defeats Whyte if that happens so in an event A.J dies lose a second fight to Usyk it’s not exactly the end either way ,he’s sticking around where Fury is looking fi4 any excuses to collect a certain status and then pack up and leave . Right now he can’t do it .

I really don’t see A.J stepping aside there’s nothing to gain by him doing it and it would have to far exceed a 15 million offer . Then you have to consider the other guy Whyte and what paying him to step aside ,Whyte out of everyone has the most to gain in a Fury fight and collecting a belt which I believe would set up A.J undisputed fight so A.J needs to assume nothing anything can happen .

As I said in a reply above - it all depends on the investment from the middle east. Joshua-Usyk 2 would be booked and Hearn wouldn't be pursuing a middle east deal for Fury-Usyk if Joshua wasn't open to it.

Granted, Fury is insane, but if he beats Usyk there is little chance he walks away from the biggest fight in history and something like 50 million pounds in a fight he would certainly be favored in.

And if he does, the belts go vacant. And Joshua has another path to the title - probably without having to fight Usyk again. Joshua-Whyte, Joshua-Wilder, etc all have a much better reward-to-risk ratio.

These guys are playing odds, and the odds of them getting what everyone really wants - Joshua-Fury for all the belts - are SLIM if they both have to fight their upcoming opponents. That's why both sides are open to finding an alternative path.

I'm not too interested in this fight.
I might be wrong. But IMO Fury and Usyks styles together will most likely give us a boring fight.
It will 100% be a boring fight and easy fight for Fury

I WANTED TO SEE AJ VS WILDER. I still wanna see it, who cares about the worthless trinket belts these guys refuse to fight over. Lets get it on tomorrow, AJ vs Wilder.

I've also come around to Team Fury after his second fight with Wilder.

I just have a feeling we might be in for a stinker.

I'd much rather see Wilder and AJ fight each other.
Even with no titles on the line.
Oh, that's the better fight for sure. Fireworks without question. I have my doubts about Joshua signing on. However, I think Wilder vs Andy Ruiz can and will be made. Looking forward to that one. Another barnburner. Love him or hate him, Wilder brings excitement to any fight.

Any fan who doesn't want to see Fury/Usyk ASAP has strange priorities. It is a fascinating matchup that will define both careers. How could anybody who is serious about boxing prefer to see if Whyte can get lucky with a left hook rather than this?
