to me calderon is a really really good defensive fighter...

no one called him a bum. I said he aint a p4p fighter. there are a lot of talented fighters in the world, and it would be an injustice to some of them to rate Calderon above them.

not that p4p lists really mean much in the end, but still. Calderon is really not THAT great...
and title defenses really dont mean crap if you dont unify them and fight top ranked fighters nowadays either. soudns cruel, but its true. Just look at Zsolt Erdie. his title defenses mean little, but he sure has a lot of them.

Ive heard people mention him as one before...Im sorry, but thats baloney. talk all you want, Mayol is nothing good, and has badly lost every time he stepped up, yet Calderon struggled with him twice. half of Calderon's fights nowadays end up in cut-short fights due to head clashes, where he never has dominant victories.

as for his title reign at minimumweight, the guy only held on to the WBO the whole time. no unifications. how are you fighting the best available competition when youre not fighting the other 3 fighters out there with belts? its like Joe Calzaghe all over again, except without the Kessler, Lacy, and Hopkins wins.
and pop quiz, was Calzaghe ever considered P4P material before the Lacy fight?

Calderon is a great fighter. He couldn't get unifications at 105 because no one wanted none! Mayol has improved lots and is a very good fighter,a nd Calderon was beating him clearly this time.

He cuts easily, and head clashes are caused because dudes get so wild and frustrated trying to hit him cos they cant! so they rush forward and lead with their heads when they attack. Plus he is a southpaw, and its a regular occurence when a lefty fights a righty.
