He's not held to those standards, he is doing it all by himself. Why did he went after kovalev, only a few weeks after the russian had a grueling and exhausting fight? They were two other and better champs to choose from. Why did he went after fielding instead of benavidez? And only made his intentions of unifying, after benavidez lost his belt. Now he wants to get another title or belt at cw, hah, again he's going after the weakest link. If you don't see a pattern here, it's not because you're blind, you just don't want to see it. Of course he ain't fighting usyk, and nobody can blame him. But don't announce that you want to win the title in certain division, and not fight the best of that weight. Be safe

He shouldn’t really go to CW either. If he fights Ring #3 Makabu, critics will want him to fight Breidis as all. Canelo already looks tiny next to Makabu and Breidis. He looks as small as Tenchin did vs Mayweather. He’s already doing too much there. Literally no fan in the world would be against a 2022 HW run of Smith, Bivol and Beterbiev. I mean yeah his worse critics will always have something negative to say about any opponent after the fact but that comes with the territory of being the #1 P4P fighter in the world. Tyson knows, Jones knows, Mayweather knows, Pacquiao knows, Calzaghe knows. It’s part of the sport, to be placed on a pedestal by your critics.
