He was also out of his mind, possibly having some level of brain damage, which might have given him that psychopathic edge.

You can decide with these qualities in mind.
This attribute along with his power and toughness was his advantage against opponents. He was a psychopath!

See, when people say stuff like this, it makes me wonder about them. Emanuel Steward though Linares was one of the best boxers he’s ever seen. It was just unfortunate that he fought in the wrong country or suffered the worst cut. Otherwise his record would be much better.

Average fighter at best mate. Far from elite.

Yeah he was beating DeMarco….Until he wasn’t and then got battered and stopped.

For me, Valero is Broner tier (before Broner went to 147) in terms of skills in the lower weights. Which is actually pretty good. Before 147, Broner was undefeated. Both dispatched DeMarco in almost similar fashion.

I'd confidently take Valero to beat anybody there with the exception of Lomachenko. There's some asterisks to both. Valero never faced anyone as skilled as Loma. Meanwhile, Loma is hesitant in his approach when fighting knockout artists like Teo for example.

TKO7 win vs Hankey, one sided stoppage with DH quitting on his stool, would not be able to handle the power.
KO9 win vs Tank, Tank is too small for EV, he would've mauled Tank.
KO2 win vs Garcia, KTFO, Garcia is way to stiff/upright, easy target and would be scared to let his hands go.
UD against Loma, Loma has got the defensive skills to not get KO'd but all that Matrix pivoting and dodging stuff would not have worked against EV, he was a great thinker in the ring as well.

              If he hadn't died...

I could see him winning some more fights and eventually getting the dream fight against Pacquiao.

In this match, Pacquiao would drop him multiple times and knock him out badly, and then Valero would retire.
