Styles makes fights, but attributes play a role too. Cruz had to chase Davis because he had the shorter reach, but Garcia's height/reach advantage will force Davis to fight more aggressively instead of waiting and countering.

It was a draw in the better case to Gervonta.

The excuse about the hand of Davis...

Please, Canelo was injured in his right hand in the fight against Smith, and Canelo K.O Smith.

The style of Cruz is hard to beat, he seems like an ordinary fighter but he is not, his shell defense is good and blocks a lot of punches with his arms and gloves, and always is looking to land big bombs to the body.

I still thinking that Davis is the better in 135.

Gervonta Davis lost his knockout streak, but kept his unbeaten record with a narrow and very competitive decision win over Isaac Cruz tonight in front of 15,850 fans in Los Angeles on Showtime pay-per-view.

Davis (26-0, 24 KO) won the fight on scores of 115-113, 115-113, and 116-112, with Bad Left Hook also scoring the fight 115-113 in his favor. It was a gritty win in the end, as Davis suffered a clear left hand injury that had an obvious affect on him late in the bout, and “Tank” was forced to fight the 12th round with just his right hand, jabbing and moving and, admirably, winning the round.

It would be tough to find a way to actually score the fight in favor of Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KO), but tougher still to not come away from it knowing that this is a legitimate contender in the 135 lb division, and not someone who should be taken lightly by anybody. He marched forward, didn’t show any fear of Davis, but did show respect, especially early, and did not fight recklessly with his pressure, which also enabled him to catch Davis in some lulls and land good shots throughout the fight.

Based on the judges scorecards, a case can be made for a draw or Cruz victory. BLH gave Davis the 12th, but one judge gave that round to Cruz.

Cruz can walk away being proud of his performance. He came in as a potential addition to Davis' highlight reel (i.e. Canelo/Kirkland) and he arguably won the fight. However, now he will no longer have the element of surprise. I'm interested to see how he continues to progress.

Once Tank realized he couldn’t dent Cruz he went straight to getting on his bicycle.

It's not fear when you change your gameplan during the fight. Cruz was tougher than expected I believe and Tank simply outboxed him. Great fight but the right man won. Like you said Tank showed superior expertise and won the fight. Fair play to both fighters.

You can’t say the hand injury is an excuse when even Cruz admitted he noticed Davis injured his hand and completely abandon throwing it from 10th round on and used it sparsely from 5th until 10th

How is it an excuse when Cruz himself said he saw in the 5th that his hand was injured?

He did not win the fight, but he should be proud of his performance! I think the best fights for him going forward are: Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero, or Michel Rivera! MAN UP!

This is normal in boxing, Cruz said that was an excuse and that he had a problem with his right hand starting the fight.

Gervonta looked bad before the round 5, so...
