Are we talking about the guy that lost to Salido and Lopez? Just wanna be sure.
Prime duran vs loma? How do you think it would go?

The only part of this I agree with is that Duran completely skipped 140. I don’t think Loma has better footwork and certainty not better inside reflexes. Duran did lose the first fight to DeJesus but DeJesus was a helluva fighter (I’d pick him to beat Loma also) but scored stoppages in the other two and was well ahead on the cards when those fights were stopped.
- - Quite a bit better footwork and inside reflexes over Duran who was heavily weight drained in his lightweight career. He lost a the first of a trilogy vs tricky Esteban de Jesus, or did U fergit?
Duran at welter was much closer to his natural prime. Duran completely skipped 140.
On a separate note, why can’t you have posts like this more often? It’s much better than the usual “I’m smarter that all you idiots” garbage you usually post.Comment

Duran ate his way to middleweight. His natural weight was lw. But he likes to eat. He lost to dejesus, because Esteban was a heck of a fighter himself. He did fought him twice more, and won. Imagine salido³.
This is a great point. Duran had lightweight glory but skipped on up to Welter.
By contrast Robinson who was considered perhaps based on his bouts at Welter and above, was alleged to be his best at lightweight.
Floyd arguably was best at 135...
Duran is a little different... I think he could have problems with Loma at that weight.Last edited by BendOver; 12-03-2021, 10:09 PM.Comment

A "weight-drained" Duran"s record at 135 was about 65-1, not too shabby.

Roberto's 2 toughest opponents were the knife and fork.

@ your quote of Warroom. I remember when he said that. It still cracks me up because of how absurd it is.

Loma has better reflexes, hand speed and much better footwork. Ring IQ might be on par and Duran hit harder. He's bigger boned too. Those are just the facts.Comment

Duran is probably the greatest lightweight in history. Dude was a machine…his head movement, footwork, strength, chin, engine. He’s also underrated in his athleticism and explosivesness. How quick and accurate he was. He was like Teo and Tank put together with a sprinkle of Loma himself with the dancing.Last edited by Punch on Tap; 12-03-2021, 11:47 PM.Comment

Loma wouldn't even have a chance. Loma got dropped by Linares, Duran would probably turn Loma into pixie dust.Comment

Yup, agree. A lot of fighters simply do not have the mindset to make a lower weight consistently ... Can we legit say "well fighter A can't get down to 130, but if he could!" Now Duran fought as a light weight for many years and maybe if he could have stayed at the weight he would have could have etc... But fact is as you say... he liked to eat... Like a lot of great fighters he has essentially two bodies of work.
I should also clarify something... I don't think Duran was a better fighter at Middle, I might have said so, if I did it was a mistake on my part... I just think that in matching up to Loma at that weight it presents some serious problems for Duran. Bad match up.Last edited by billeau2; 12-03-2021, 11:57 PM.Comment
