That was a 10-8 round all day, except if you were looking for a reason not to (e.g. the B side fighter or foreigner).

Lopez was winning the round, but not by any blow out or anything and Kambosos did touch him a few times earlier so that is a 10-8 round and i've never seen such a round be scored otherwise.

You see 10-9 rounds scored when a fighter gets knocked down very infrequently. I've seen enough fights and rounds with knockdowns that the scoring of the first round feels like an anomaly no matter how I try to look at it. The way it typically seems to go is that in addition to the point deducted from the fighter knocked down as per the rules, the act of knocking down an opposing fighter is counted in the scoring as well, the same way as a round gets scored 10-9 for Fighter A if Fighter A badly hurt Fighter B and had them badly hurt, but without knocking them down, even if Fighter B was otherwise winning the round - outboxing an opponent is all well and good but doing appreciable damage to the opponent is the most straightforward way to make your case to the judges. For me, if you're going to score a round 10-9 in favour of a fighter scoring a knockdown instead of 10-8, the other guy needs to be really dominating the round prior to getting dropped to cancel out the scoring for damage - the kind of round that you'd consider scoring 10-8 in favour of Fighter B if he doesn't get dropped by Fighter A. Lopez was definitely winning that opening round but not what I'd call dominating, he was missing a lot and got hit with counters a few times, and while Kambosos was definitely on the back foot for the majority of the round he was composed and wasn't really hurt by anything Lopez was landing on him. If Lopez stays on his feet and doesn't get caught by anything too big for the rest of the round he wins it 10-9, not 10-8. As is, not only did he get dropped, he did so through a pretty severe lapse in his defense, got clocked clean blundering into Kambosos' range standing straight up with his hands out of position. It's not like the knockdown was a fluke. Even if he stays on his feet and is merely sent staggering back instead, at that point you're probably considering scoring the round for Kambosos instead.

There needs to be consistency in this sport for people to not cry foul every time these anomalies occur.
Other than that, conspiracy theories are imbecilic, the internet broke society.
My opinion is a KD round is a 10-8. I also dislike rounds being scored 10-8 without a KD, as to me, you have to credit the fighter for staying on his feet. On the subject of 10-9 with a KD, they are rare, but I have seen several before, I can't remember them all, but I remember one judge scoring AJ knocking down Wlad round, where Wlad had AJ rocked at the end of it, just 10-9 AJ. Nash out.

          Teo was robbed.. no debate..

even the first round should have been scored 10-9

Teo thoroughly dominated that round & was not hurt on the knock down

Kambo didn't get an extra point for the round...he was given 10's because it was believed that he won the round. That means Teo was on 9....minus a point for the knock down for a 10-8 round. It's not that complicated.
You don't take points off for a knockdown, you only do that for a foul. That's the only way you can have a 9-9 round

10 points if for the winner and 9 or less for the loser, and knockdowns are heavily weighted when deciding the winner because the name of the game is knockouts, and after that, knockdowns.

When it comes to rounds like round one of that fight, most times it gets scored 10-8 in favour of the man scoring the knockdown, though it doesn't have to be that way. If you really believed the other fighter had been winning the fight to that point you could use your judgement and score it 10-9 in the guy getting the knockdowns favour. I suppose if one guy absolutely hammered the other, then got caught for a flash knockdown, you might be thinking it could be an even round, but I can't think of a time that's actually happened.

I thought round 1 was perhaps slightly going to Lopez but it was pretty competitive and with the knockdown 10-8 would be what I'd expect, I don't think Lopez was dominant enough to bring it back to 10-9. Same thing for the round Kambosos went down in, that looked like 10-8 Lopez to me.

Did Teo dominate the first round? Yes he had forward aggression and yes he threw more punches. However a lot off them caught arms and gloves and a few caught fresh air. Not to mention that Kambosos also caught some with his right mitt. Sure Teo still lands some great shots in the round, but Kambosos also caught him with some nice crisp counters also, other than the right that dropped him. It was not a dominating round. Maybe if your scoring it on forward footsteps perhaps. I'm not saying he wouldn't have won the round. Omit the knockdown it was Teo's round. But the moment his ass hit the deck it was Kambosos round and he should not be penalised for forward aggression being mistook for effective aggression. It's 10- 8 all night long. It's not fair for Lopez to only lose 1 point and yet Kambosos gets penalised 2 points. US boxing is the only place that doesn't give a standard 10-8 and it causes confusion and conspiracy theories. Time for them to get up to date with the rest of the world.

Can people stop perpetuating this narrative that teo was handing out a one sided beat down in the first round prior to the knockdown? The dude came in like a bull in a china shop, but the majority of what he was throwing was missing. Kambosos was countering clean, but everyone was distracted by Lopez best imitation of a bar fight. Just look at the compubox #'s. 20 punches landed for Lopez,12 for kambosos. While you would be right in saying that Lopez was winning the round,it was at no point a one sided domination that would warrant the 10-9 round, especially considering that it wasn't just a fluke of a punch, evidenced by kambosos landing it over and over during the rest of the fight. If anything it was a brilliant plan, set up by months of getting under the guy's skin.

Once again, I thought Teo actions after the three official judges rendered their verdict from his own hometown were both disgusting and repugnant. Also, Teofimo Lopez, Sr didn't do his son no favors either; By railing against the boxing establishment and industry for his son's sore and bitter loss.

The judges got it right this time and I am finding it very hard to find at least six rounds where Lopez won. That 114-1113 score was being very generous to Teo. He lost this fight unanimously and convincingly. it wasn't close enough to not choose a winner.
