If GGG can land a solid jab again, and hold the ring/back Canelo up at all, he probably wins again, for a 3rd time. If Canelo is able to have GGG on the back foot a lot, then it's easier to see a Canelo victory.

I wouldn't be so sure about a Canelo win if they fought. GGG still is pretty much the same guy that gave Canelo troubles the first 2 times - his jab/workrate/activity/toughness are a tough matchup for Canelo's fighting in spurts.

These types of performances is what led him to be the favorite against Canelo, as far as odds go. GGG fans claimed Canelo will get destroyed in under 6 rounds.

That was really the majority of forum’s vote. GGG by TKO.

In the first fight, Canelo outlanded GGG in power punches in 7 rounds. If some fans thought that Draw was a robbery, it would have been interesting to see what they would have say if Canelo got the nod.

In the second fight, Canelo outlanded GGG in power punches in 9 rounds.

In the rematch, GGG put way to much stock on the jab. He outjabbed Canelo, good for him. But when your opponent is landing the most telling blows, in more rounds, you can’t win by just jabbing.

GGG advertised himself as fighting “Mexican style”, make it war.

What happened instead was that GGG was on the backfoot, jabbing, occasionally throwing power punches. Abel Sanchez, post fight, even announced that GGG did not follow the gameplan, that he was supposed to come forward and throw more power punches. Abel also gave credit to Canelo for the win and said (paraphrasing) “we can’t complain about every decision.” Abel then got fired.

GGG’s secret for a third fight better involve coming forward and throwing more power punches. Because, versus the best MW fighters, Canelo, Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, GGG didn’t look good.
Imagine acting like a GGG jab isn't a power punch lololol

That's the way it's been in boxing since 1900. I challenge any American or Mexican to watch the fights again, with no volume from the bias American/Mexican commentary by the American/Mexican network guys. Re-watch , no volume and youll see 8-4 and 7-5 fights for Golovkin. Quite handily.
Giving Canelo 5 rounds in fight 2 is even generous. He does the same thing in fight 2 as he does in fight 1. Starts fast, and the first 4 or so rounds are even. Then Canelo fades and GGG starts piling up rounds. Then Canelo gets a 2nd wind to end the fight and the last rounds are even.

I honestly can't believe anyone acts like Canelo got even close to a draw, let alone a draw and a win, in those 2 fights.

Golovkin doesn't even hold the secret to Jacobs or Derv

I think that's where a lot of people are swayed. I always watch fights with no sound. Only way to do it really, as far as scoring them goes.

If you're a Canelo fan you better hope GGG is considered an ATG. In his late 30s GGG beat a prime Canelo so easily that it's hard to consider Canelo higher at all on an ATG list.

GGG definitely an all time great. The others not. Crawford needs to knock out Spence to even be considered. Right now, hes not even close. Cotto has fought everyone. He needs to be considered. If Spence knocks out Crawford , he'd likely be an all timer.

So you’re saying that Golovkin is an ATG based on one fight? And Golovkin didn’t beat him “easily” as both bouts are highly contested as to who won. What’s his second best win, struggling and barely beating B level Jacobs? His record is abysmal if you take Canelo out of the equation.

Hes nowhere near being an ATG, but he is a hall of famer.

Nope, he’s a hall of famer but nowhere near ATG status. Crap resume if you take Canelo out of the picture.
