Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez - WBC Approves Request To Next Challenge Makabu For Cruiserweight Title

Its obvious that Canelo and his crook manager/trainer Reynoso have spotted something in Makabu which they think they can exploit. This is the way they operate. Even in selecting his best opponent up to now, Golovkin, they only did so after witnessing the onset of athletic decline in the Kell Brook and Danny Jacobs fight...
Let me tell you for free - if Mairis Briedis was the current WBC Cruiserweight Chammpion Canelo and Reynoso would not be going to no convention asking for that fight, that's 100% facts.

I lefty with power two weight classes above. I wonder what the CW will be. Interesting fight that came from no where, Canelo wants to make history and wants to collect another belt at a different weight class. This has been done before going with the path of least resistance but still it is a much bigger fighter with power.

Canelo earned this one. I don't know anything about this Makabu guy, but this fight is for history, Canelo getting another belt at a fifth weight class would be history for him.TreyShaw likes this.

Canelo's six month transformation for Kovalev, bulking up 25 pounds. Now if you think this is impressive, just wait until you see his five month transformation, bulking up 35 pounds for the cruiserweight title shot.

People really need to recognize this for the bull**** that it is. Ilungu Makabu is 6ft tall, with a 74 inch reach. Callum Smith is 6'3" with a 78 inch reach. BJS is 5'11" with a 71 inch reach, and Plant is 6'1" with a 74 inch reach. So his past opponents, on average, have been bigger than Makabu. Makabu has not fought for several years. Makabu hasn't really fought an elite opponent, and when he did fight an elite opponent, he got sparked in several rounds.
This is the near equivalent of fighting a Rocky Fielding, who happened to be 6'1" with a 75" reach. I repeat: THIS IS ALMOST THE SAME AS FIGHTING ROCKY FIELDING.
Anyone giving this praise is helping to turn boxing into a **** show. Alvarez is a joke. He is setting a bad example to all the other fighters by opportunistically cherry picking opponents who only look good to the casual boxing fan by superficially stat padding. He's also showing that if you cheat, you win and get to make a lot of money. He will never be able to make that weight without the help of anabolic steroids and other PEDs. It's just a fact.
Alvarez is cancer to the sport of boxing.

Even if Canelo beats Makabu I'll not consider him a true Cruiserweight champion because he'll be fighting at 190lbs (essentially another catchweight) and he'll be draining Makabu in the process which isn't fair. The WBC need to be ashamed of themselves. At this stage they're just doing everything thing they can to help Canelo; from elevating him to franchise champion to avoid Charlo, his mandatory at MW to this absolute sham of a fight.
The only way around this crap is if us as boxing fans collectively boycott the WBC and if we view their title as equally prestigious as the IB0 title for example... The WBC are just AWFUL - from protecting Mexican failed PED fighters to taking sanctioning fees from fighters such as Dillian Whyte who was WBC mandatory for 5 years and not granting him a title shot whilst letting others jump the queue. Its patently obvious their modus operandi is to collect as much money as they can whilst vehemently protecting Mexican boxers.

Your posts are nothing but hate and drivel.
Him going to CW will not affect the future of anyone from 160-175. They are all now free to fight each other and make their own legacies without waiting on the Canelo lotto ticket.
