Do people actually rate David Benavidez?

I thought it was just me.

I am not really seeing what others do in him at all. I think the only way him vs Canelo is possibly interesting is if he is able to block Canelos punches with his face and make him work like he has others and I don't see it. Canelo is a much better counterpuncher, fast and hits a ton harder than those little guys he is walking down.

I see how he is effective but technically I just don't I think he is rather naff tbh just gets away with it fighting much smaller guys who can't punch and aren't much good to begin with. If he was doing it to decent technical fighters his own size, sign me up but all I am seeing is a great big weight bully really fighting opponents that are naturally much small and can't punch hard enough to make him truly pay so he just keeps strolling forward.

I don’t think he will beat canelo if they ever fight but he is at least dangerous. That’s more than can be said for BJS or plant who could fight canelo 100 times and never pose the slightest threat.

i don’t think anyone at 168 or below can beat canelo but the only person who is interesting really is benevidez because he’s got the size and strength to at least potentially put up
a fight.

huge experience gap between canelo and benevidez also but time is of the essence if that fight is ever going to happen. How much longer can benevidez make weight before he’s forced upto light heavyweight? Would be nice to see benevidez fight a few of the other competent super middle weights first but by the time that’s done canelo is getting older and probably wouldn’t risk fighting benevidez.

the problem benevidez has is why would you fight him? He’s big, good, young and dangerous, and he doesn’t have a title or an especially big name. Why as a promoter would you let your fighter go in with someone like that with a high risk and a pretty low reward?
