He's definitely looking like he's plateaued or even regressing slightly.

He definitely looks like he can be beaten to me.

Also his apparent lack of discipline he shows by continuing to miss weight could be an issue against a truly elite fighter like Canelo Alvarez.

I would pick Canelo to chop him down but my picks have been terrible lately.

If you know what you're looking at you can tell how dangerous Benavidez is for anyone at 168.

Doesn't mean he'll beat Canelo but he is the toughest challenge for Alvarez at the weight.

I don't rate any fighter, like in having an actual list, and I say screw all boxing rankings (belt orgs, P4P, ring, or any other website). There's only one question I use for myself: Has this boxer been in any memorable fights that I enjoyed and remember? Benavidez's fight (his combination punching) against Porky Medina is one of the most memorable fights I've seen live. Whenever I see him, I remember that fight. I don't follow his career.

Although he's not as good as he was then, I still think he's pretty good. I think he'd give Canelo a very stiff comp.

Based on what though man? What attributes do you think he has to trouble Canelo?

I’m not trying to hate on the guy or anything but I really just can’t see it. I think he has nothing for Canelo.

You don't think he can trouble Canelo at all? I mean his attributes are kind of obvious, no? It's going to come down to how well he can take Canelo's punches and if he can tire Canelo with his activity. If he can? Then that's definitely a FIGHT. Canelo has controlled the tempo of all his recent fights, you have to disrupt that and make him work for three minutes of every round.

Not at all really, I just think he walks on to shots and gets comprehensively outboxed for as long as it lasts.

Everything Benavidez does, Canelo does much better IMO. All he has is size but so did Smith, Plant, Kovalev etc etc.

People act like Benavidez haven't been talked about for the last few years long before Canelo even moved up lol

Benavidez has a Buzz going and was WBC Champion at 168 and he wasn't using Canelo name to create that Buzz. Both fight at 168 and Benavidez wants to fight the best, fans shouldn't be offended by that, that is the way it is suppose to be

Difference is that guys like Smith/Plant/BJS did not commit to their shots. I think Benavidez will be in there sitting on his shots and firing off his usual combos/big shots. Canelo is going to have to be more careful with Benavidez and will have to work more. Again, he controlled the entire of the fights you mentioned.

I think the question with him is whether his fluidity, combination punching, and how he can fight on the inside could as least occupy Canelo and force him to work on defense. Because yes, he;s just walking straight in, not doing much defensively, can;t cover up his body...I think Gavril already set a good plan with the jab to the body to make him shorter. Even in the rematch it took more rds to get by that jab.

It's really all offense with him - the fluidity I like the most, there arent that many guys who can put punches together like that. he's firing off shots from anywhere, feet all out of order but it can be two or three right hands, 3-4 left hooks, or all of the it on one combo
