It worked to a certain degree, but you can't expect someone who got embarrassed in front of millions of eyes in his youth to not have come up with some sort of plan for that. Who knows how many times he has to have replayed that fight.

Nelo had a great game plan. He knew this from the press conference shoving match.
Plant was making him miss and blocking a lot of shots, bro.

To my eyes Canelo looked frustrated trying to get his punches through that defense. And he himself confirmed in the postfight interview that things got more difficult than he expected.

I ain't propping up nobody. It's not propping him up to say he beat the blueprint to beat Canelo and that he did it at 36 yrs old despite moving up in weight. That's just reality. We lived through those events.

Not just that. There’s more to Floyd’s defense that confused Canelo that night. Floyd’s ability to catch and shoot between Canelo’s counters and his discipline to not get caught with the same punch pattern in a 12 rounds fight. His punching accuracy, precision, and change of attacks made him a matchup nightmare for Canelo stylistically. If they were to fight 10 times at 147/154, Floyd would still beat him 10 times out of 10.

He fought an inexperienced (in that type of fight) fighter, and made him go down a couple pounds at that. It's not that impressive man. If Canelo fought a good gameplan in that fight I'd give Floyd a little more credit, but he fought dumb - which makes sense since he was too green for that type of fight.

The experience was invaluable to him though. Both the big fight experience and the loss.

What did Canelo do to deserve a fight against Floyd? He only got the fight because of Oscar. The number of fights doesn't mean ****. What matters is the caliber of fighters you're fighting. His best opponent before fighting Floyd was Trout. Canelo didn't have championship caliber experience and solid defense before he fought Floyd. Floyd took him to school because he lacked experience in championship fights, his body wasn't developed, and he wasn't ready to fight someone like fight.

Nelo not really one to come out the box hot. Even Khan had moments early.
It can be kinda frustrating if your opponent doesn't want to engage.
Imagine the sizes were reversed. Do you think Nelo is satisfied with jabbing ?
Fight like you want to win. To me, Plant did not do this.

See. Looking at you making up Canelo excuses for Canelo. You ****ing hypocrite. Who's the fanboy? Who's propping up who? Canelo didn't fight dumb, he fought smart. He laid traps, he tried to get Floyd to overcommit, he did things that veteran fighters do. He wasn't a green kid. He was a kid that was overmatched and in overhead due to the massive gap in boxing IQ and skill between him and Floyd. They fought, Floyd won easily. Your excuses are useless.
