Fielding not very good, but he did stop him early, so I credit that some. And it was at 168 at least.

Yildrim, similar story. Got the job done as expected. I give some credit for that.

Similar in a way with Kov - he was faded, and probably too soon of a fight after Yarde - but Canelo did close the show and it was at 175 at least.

BJS was very impressive to me honestly. I felt he dominated that fight and closed it.

I had Jacobs as a 7-5 Canelo win. Good performance, got the job done against a really solid fighter. Good win.

Plant, I haven't watched the whole thing yet on a good stream. But he did close the show. And Plant may be the 2nd best guy at 168.

Smith win was a bit of a cherry pick (after Ryder beat him) but he did dominate him.

Stringing together wins against good/solid names is impressive to me. Some guys struggle with guys around the Fielding/Yildrim level if you give them enough fights.

It's honestly impossible imo to compare this version of Canelo to the one who fought Floyd because the difference in weight is so sizeable that you can't really say how the two of them would look. They are 2 to 3 weight classes apart right now.

      Ok very fair points.

I completely disagree tbh mate, I just think Floyd is simply that good he can negate any style. A lesser fighter trying to imitate that style would not have anywhere near the same success. Floyd had an insane ring IQ so Canelo could never figure him out and was constantly guessing. I don’t think there’s anybody in and round Canelo’s weight class with those sort of attributes.

You need to be able to push this version of Canelo backwards, his ring generalship has vastly improved since the Floyd fight, he cuts the ring off much more efficiently, picks his punches better, judges distance better, the box and move style has become a style he deals with comfortably. Plant tried the shoulder roll and consistently ate clean left hooks once Canelo had figured out his defensive patterns.

The last time Canelo looked uncomfortable was against GGG and that’s because Golovkin pushed him backwards.

Lara and GGG didn`t need Mayweather blueprint to beat Canelo.

"Do the shoulder roll" isn't really a blueprint is it?

Both Lara and Golovkin were in super close fights with Canelo.

Floyd beat him clearly and left no doubt.

Blue Print: Drain him(with re -hydration clause) and fight him green.

That's going to be hard to replicate.

The truth is Canelo is a different fighter, the Floyd fight helped him win the Lara fight, the Cotto fight helped him win the GGG fight. The GGG fights made him a complete fighter we see today.

Every fight Canelo learns something new, even after the Floyd fight he wasn't a great fighter, he looked like the same lost fighter against Lara during the first 3 rounds, then he took it to another gear when he saw he was going to lose the same way he did against Floyd. He started just trying to Destroy Lara's body and that changed the fight in his favor. He didn't have the experience before facing Floyd.

it took the GGG fight for him to have confidence in his chin. Now he can fight as a search and destroy fighter, he could never do that before the GGG fights.

They would never be able to fight i their primes because of the weights but you would just have to be blind to think the Canelo we are seeing now is the same kid from 8 years ago.
