Would a one-trick like Wilder ever become a HW champ again?

Up until Fury entered the picture, sloppy AF Wilder was pretty much having his way with this weak HW era.

Vernon Forest was unable to solve the Mayorga riddle, Wilder was unable to figure out Fury. Sometimes the better man doesn't win

That's faulty logic right there, Wilder was never the better man. Fury boxed his ears off and then beat him down, all Wilder did to win rounds was land right hands and not enough of them at that.

I don't think you can claim that the guys on his CV define the era.

He was having his way with a specially selected diet of C Grade PBC opponents.

I’m trying to think of HW prospects similar to Wilder but I can’t find any. Dubois has a very good jab and throws left hooks - something never had. Perhaps Okolie if he were to move up but Okolie has gotten better under Shane and he doesn’t rely solely on his power anymore.

Those are the two I can think of and they’re already more skilled than Wilder.
Much ado about ziltch... Its very simple and has little to do with Wilder. Its a weak division and yes, hopefully the prospects will be better. What more can one say?

Wilder is skilled in throwing his right hand... and in a division where nobody has the skill to avoid it the conclusion is inevitable. Fury is the exception... Furys job is to knock down young lions, like Lewis did. thats boxing. This is a weak division. The prospects will be what they will be, time will tell.

Typical American linear mentality - not surprising.

Just because Wilder decided to fight bums throughput his career, that doesn’t mean it’s a shiiity division and nobody had the skill to avoid his one-scam pony. Wilder is a protected bum that would have at least 4-5 losses if he had fought the people on AJ and Whyte’s resume.

This HW division is the best since the 90s and might end up being better than the 90s.

Probably but it’ll depend on where the titles sit.

If there’s vacant titles on the line, or titles held by fighters like Charles Martin, then a one trick pony could get a title shot and win. Or if a timid fighter with no chin like AJ picked up easy titles like he did, then a guy like Wilder could take him out.

If fighters like Fury or Usyk are holding titles, then no. It takes more than being a good puncher to beat them.

Valuev was very different to Wilder but he was a one trick pony in that all he had was a jab, nothing else really, but still won a belt. So yeah could happen again

Ironic when Wilder’s chin couldn’t hold against featherfisted Fury.
Ironic feather fisted Ruiz knocked AJ around like a rag doll
