I’m a super AJ fan who has followed him from amateur day until now and I watched almost all his amateur fights and I’ve watched all his pro fights. Don’t group me with all these idiotic Matchroom/Hearn fans who can’t even point to AJ’s best attributes as a boxer.

Usyk is very basic/amateurish and almost everything he does falls into AJ’s strengths. And he’s not as crafty with high ring IQ like a Povetkin. The cruiserweight division has always been the weakest division in the sport and none of the people he fought in that division are world beaters.

Usyk has an upright European style although his footwork is very good. And he leans into his punches whilst his upper body stays stiff behind it. AJ is a counterpuncher and he’s going to counter that all night. Also, Josh is at his best against European style boxers over 6’2 and this won’t be different especially with all the advantages he has with height, reach and being bigger.

So I expect him to beat the guy convincingly and stop him. But if he doesn’t - thar means he has checked out of boxing mentally and it’s time to retire.

Usyk is legit and has skills. I think that AJ is a much bigger skilled fighter and should win, if Usyk happens to win I would not be surprised.

If AJ loses, that means his heart isn’t in the sport anymore. He’s better than Usyk (watched a lot of Usyk’s CW fights earlier today again). And you can’t be in a dangerous sport if your heart isn’t in it.

I think this is just an excuse OP has built in his head as a coping mechanism because deep down he is very worried & that is fine.
He is clearly a superfan as he puts it & if it softens the blown for him then very well, best of luck.

Its not easy putting all your belief in someone, spending so much time and money etc

I only created the thread because I don’t think Usyk is good enough to beat him. Too open and his technical ability is overrated. Usyk’s style is pitifully very amateurish and how he throws punches plays into AJ’s strengths. It’s one of AJ’s easiest fights and might end up being easier than Martin.

So if he loses, something is amiss and he might need to retire.

If you predicted Joshua would destroy Ruiz you were wrong and should admit as much. Joshua had no intention of even attempting that sort of win and that was a wise decision. If, and I don't expect it for a minute, Joshua loses today to Usyk, I'd be looking forward to seeing how Joshua would seek to overcome. Joshua may not be one of the greatest HW champions but he is dedicated and professional. If he loses today, he'll be back with a plan.
