truth is shanes got more to prove vs this crop of welters (margo, cotto, clottey) margo beat two (clottey-cotto), cotto beat two (mosley-clottey) and mosley beat one (margo, who had a bad night and was dehydrated). mosley may have still won but not as impressively. if he does better vs clottey than cotto did, then id like to see that rematch. but man is he gonna have to settle for the wrong end of $ split if cotto beats pacman.

I agree that Shane should go away and stop
B*tchin but I don't agree with what the article
says "If they meet again the same result will
happen" I don't see Cotto beating Mosley
in a rematch with ****m on his team now
considering Cotto doesn't even have a solid
corner BUT hey anything can happen. I'm
glad it is coming out on how Shane didn't
want to fight Floyd. I remember Shane telling
Oscar "After your done with Floyd, send him to
me" BUT the fight never happened. I don't
understand why shane didn't take that fight.
Vacation, tooth ache? At least Shane is
moving on fighting Clottey. I do believe
a Cotto/Shane rematch would be great though.

Nope. He shoulda tuned up wit a lower top 10 WW while SSM shoulda been snatchin anotha belt off Berto. This coulda happened in summer and they coulda fought in Oct-Nov. But SSM wanted to sit around bitchin and Mr boat buyer wants to fight lil guys for an imaginary p4p title.

I had Pac originally, but I don't like is work ethic as of late. He seems to be treating this like a tune up, and I am yet to reach a final verdict on it, but as of now assuming Pacquiao is taking it seriously I think he will win.

well the autor got what he wanted. definetely got some people's attention. Cotto did beat Mosley, that is true and I also saw it 8-4 and Cotto looked very confident in that fight which I liked. Then Mosley did destroy Margo he beat Cotto(controversial and it will be in doubt in many people's eyes). So it seems that Mosley deserves a shot at Cotto again to decide the no 1 WW but for now there is not a decisive no1 welterweight. After '07's margo, mosley, cotto, judah, quintana, williams, berto, cintron collazo and Mayweather, only two remain and those are Cotto and Mosley. We can now add Mayweather depending on what happens next week and what he decides to do after that. Now we have Cotto active fighting the best out there and Mosley not fighting for over a year and now taking Clottey in dec. I hate to say it but Mosley is almost done with his career and he probably won't get a shot at cotto again so it will most likely be Mayweather vs Cotto in '10 to decide THE WW Champ

Co-sign. Best response I have read so far. The whole thing about Mosley going away is obviously for publicity sakes (the writer's that is) but I can't argue with any of his points. Mosley might have taken the decision if the judges were kind on him (as someone else stated) but they weren't and it was the right decision. Clottey was closer in fact and it was he, not Mosley that let a victory over Cotto slip away.

Furthermore Mosley is not being ducked. He was just left without a chair when the music was over. Could have been Cotto or Marquez but it was him. Sucks but such is life. He is right to be angry if he wants to be (id rather he just be frustrated instead of spitting out so much garbage lately) but all he has to do is take care of business with Clottey and he'll get another big fight.

And let's not forget that he could have always fought PWill in the interim if he wanted to (or others) but he knows that there is no big-money in that because neither of them are draws. So let's be clear. Mosley is not being ducked, he just doesn't have any big money fights available to him because he himself is not a draw and needs a side A. Hence his recent inactivity.

Instead he remained inactive complaining about not getting fights & getting older. He completely killed all the momentum he had with that margarito victory & might have killed any semblance of a fanbase or the little notoriety he had to begin with.

He was so busy trying to get boxing rich fast by playing the pacquiao mr.counterfeit cash lotto instead of working for his money like a blue collar boxing professional.

                Horrible career decision.
Very well written. I saw this after I posted my like-minded post.

This is not a title you are exchaging here. Is a position in a ranking, wich is obtain by previous and recent wins and against who and how.

Just because you beat a guy doeant mean you get his spot in rankings!!!!
~snicker~ hatton always seemed to think so.

I agree with you, though. Simply beating a fighter does not make you better than him in every scenario. Boxing is a lot of chance and risk mixed with skill, training, determination and a whole lot of other things. You don't just trade places with someone in rankings for beating him unless...it's a championship bout. But then that's why we have 'paper champions'.

People are getting their panties all up in a bunch focusing on the wrong thing.

It's like the only thing the article said was that Cotto clearly beat Mosley, when that's not even the point of the article.

Shane is such a ****ing hypocrite, I've lost so much respect for him. Him calling Pac, Floyd, and Cotto prima donnas that fight for the money....what the **** did Shane sit out a god damn year for? A big money fight, that's what he cares about too, that's what they all care about.

And calling Cotto a prima donna after HE FOUGHT YOU...tell me how that makes sense.

This article was dead on as far is Shane being a hypocrite goes. He's just bitter that he got left out cause he can't sell a ticket. Let's see how many people go see him at staples, and than we can talk about why he can't get a big fight.

Yeah, this guy who wrote this article can't compare
Cotto's career to Mosley's? Considering that Cotto
has yet to beat a champ for a title and Mosley held
them in different divisions (Even though belts are
whatever now a days). Even though Cotto beat
Mosley it wasn't like he dominated him AND Cotto
was the younger fresher fighter. Cotto/Mosley 2
should definitely happen to iron out 147. I say
                      Mosley wins next time.
