Comments Thread For: Jaime Munguia-Gabriel Rosado Middleweight Fight Eyed For Late October

Jaime Munguia fully expects to soon enter the middleweight title picture. It won't happen in the immediate future, though also not too far beyond that point. Despite being named in an ordered WBC title eliminator with Sergey Derevyanchenko, Tijuana's Munguia (37-0, 30KOs) awaits a fight date with a long-discussed showdown versus Philadelphia's 'King' Gabriel Rosado (26-13-1, 15KOs). BoxingScene.com has learned that plans remain in place to headline a DAZN show in late October, with October 23 mentioned as a possibility.

    Munguia ducked Andrade.

This fight could end up being a more dangerous fight than GBP is anticipating with the way Gab been looking lately. If Munguia loses or has a controversial decision, was it all worth it when Andrade is right there?

Gabe's been campaigning for this one for a while now! He's taken his licks in the sport and fought hard each and every outing....that may be a lot for Munguia to deal with at some point of the fight.

When his opponent doesn't fold because of his power and activity, he starts looking average like he did against Hogan. Hell, Spike gave him a nice run.

He doesn't like to be pressured and Gabe is all about that pressure!

      War Rosado!

Munguia has nothing to gain and everything to lose. But it is good to see Rosado given a chance at such a highly rated boxer. I doubt if Rosado can beat Munguia but should be a good scrap. Good DAZN type fight.

GBP has become one of the bravest matchmakers in the sport. The Canelo situation must’ve been a turning point in how to handle their fighters. The Mayweather era is done, undefeated records are great, but great matchups/fights are even better.

Munguia might’ve been better served fighting Andrade, who tends to lose focus and fade in the second half of fights (with Munguia’s defense, he might’ve been embarrassed by Andrade regardless). If Rosado can make 160 healthy, he’s going to stop Munguia and have a decent shot at defeating Andrade. Either way, good matchup, it’s going to be action packed.

This is a fight every single poster that really likes the sport should be irate about.

Why does Gabe Rosado, who is 5-8 (1 NC) in his last 14 fights get a payday against an undefeated champion?

Rosado should not be allowed to fight let alone be given an opportunity like this.

There are FAR more deserving guys who have earned this chance.

This is what kills the sport.

I don't like Gabe having to cut back to 160. He's been solid at 168 and think him going back down will do him a big disservice.

What are you crying about? Rosado is coming off a huge upset. It's a tough fight for munguia.

I’m commenting on how a guy that is 5-8-1 in his last 14 fights, is getting a premium opportunity ahead of more deserving boxers and how this hurts the sport

It’s not a tough fight in any way. He’s literally coming down in Weight.

He upset some unknown dude in his 6th fight, at 168.

That shouldn’t get you a fight at 160 against an undefeated champion.

                    1. Munguia isn’t a champion as you stated he was. So when you say there are guys far more deserving of this chance, what exactly would they be deserving of? The right to fight a guy with no belt, no star status yet, and hardly any accomplishments in the sport? 2. Most real boxing fans respect Gabe Rosado for being one of the few throwback type of fighters who literally will fight anyone. 3. Rosado is arguably the best fighter Munguia has faced so far, so it’s a step up fight for him. Munguia is nowhere near the best fighter rosado has faced. 4. If you’ve followed boxing, you’d know rosados record is deceptive. He could’ve won a few of those losses including against Jacobs 2 fights ago and knocked out a highly regarded prospect in his last fight.
