Look dude you’re picking at my words. Loma dropped the wbc belt Aug 31, 2019. Everything shut down March 2020.

So if you want it to be he sat out 5 months then the pandemic hit- fine. The fact is he dropped the belt to avoid Haney and then lied about the facts and got caught.

The pandemic was never cited by Loma as the reason for not fighting Haney.

If you aren’t going to hold him dropping the belt and avoiding Haney against him, that is on you.

What can’t change are his actions and the lying. Rather than getting mad at me, you should be mad at him for that.

I see someone attempted to respond to my statement with a question that in all reality makes absolutely zero sense in the context of Lomachenko vs Teofimo Lopez. What does Lomachenko granting or not granting rematches to men he fought in the past ( men he thoroughly dominated and thrashed)have to do with the fact that you had a noteworthy fight where the champion and a high profile challenger engaged in a bout that most mature and real hard-core aficionados of the sport are demanding a redo?
That comes across ignorant in narrative and its also deflection from the core argument that a GOOD majority of boxing fans with the exception of biased Lopez supporters, want to see a rematch. I have no horse in this race per say because I put the sport FIRST before cheerleading a particular fighter. Most hard-core sincere fans respect that credo. Unfortunately it seems this new generation of " fans" practice a different mentality.

Lopez is being evasive deliberately here.
Their first match was not a dominant performance on Lopez part by any conceivable scenario. If you watch that fight closely as a neutral, unbiased aficionados( I studied it on a few occasions) then you would have come to the conclusion that it was a LOT closer than the judges scored it. The first six rounds Lomachenko allowed Lopez to be the aggressor without paying for it. The Ukraine utilized a strategy that would have succeeded in a 15 round match but not a 12 rounder. He fought as if it was a marathon and he had rounds to give away while eventually taking over by the midway point. Very much Like Ali and Eusebio Pedroza used to do in their reigns. That was a faulty strategy and it went against him in the eyes of the judges.
However was Lopez affective in his aggression? Actually NO. In the initial 6 rounds Lopez did not land any real significant punches to inflict damage to Lomachenko to take away his legs. Hd missed over 90 percent of his punches in those early rounds. They either missed by an inch, caught shoulders and gloves or missed entirely by a foot. He was essentially swinging at air the majority of the time. In general both men neutralized EACH OTHER in a strategic stalemate.
The real fight didn't start until the 2nd half and here is gers interesting. The smaller Ukraine stepped up his aggressive posture and Lopez had no answer for it. Yes he had a moment where in desperation he responded in the final stanza but Lomachenko was able to step in on Lopez relatively easy cracking his mediocre defense and forcing the bigger man to not only back up but hold on in 3 occasions. Lopez was tiring and Lomachenko stepped up and took advantage of that and out punched and outfought Lopez in the latter half without sustaining any real significant counters in return. Lopez can't fight going backwards and neither sideways. His guard is totally out of position when the aggressor comes his way.
Like Andre Ward I had this bout a draw. And yes it needs to be a redo because it makes for an exciting bout no matter where you stand. Unfortunately Lopez is less be frank here, Making ridiculous and insulting bad excuses for not rematching Lomachenko. His flaws were exposed and Lomachenko unlike the other competitors out there, has the right style to offset Lopez. Lopez thrives off of opponents who are stationary and not as defensively sound and versatile as Lomachenko. Those fighters make it easier for him to set the tone. Which is why he will go to 140 where there isn't an opponent with the kind of tools like a Lomachenko to disrupt his style.

Bro....if it was a 12 rounder Loma would have been knocked out after the 12th, it's surprising the length you guys go to defend a fighter that doesn't care much for you.....you say Loma utilized a strategy that would have worked in a 15 rounder despite being fully aware that it was a 12 rounder & that he had no rematch clause.....the question is, whose fault is that; you guys should trying reading your posts from the position of a person with an opposing view

The worst thing for me is how Arum did Loma dirty by not including a rematch clause. Eddie would have never let that happen and now, with Loma still in his prime or very close to it, he is completely frozen out of the division - nobody even mentions his name as if he doesn't exist. Not Eddie, not Mayweather, only Haney did bla-bla-bla on Twitter and it stayed there. I followed Eddie long enough to know when he wants to match the fighters - he won't shut up about it. But Loma is just not name he remembers. Because they all know Loma is still the man in the division and can take the belt away from anyone. Lopez is simply waiting Loma out. Give it a couple of years and Lopez will change his tune to: now, that Loma has earned his shot, I'll give him a rematch as you, fans, wanted it. Loma might not have 2 more years to perform at this level, the decision not to have a rematch clause has probably ruined Loma's career, who has the potential to become an ATG. A great shame, Loma deserves better - he is a remarkable boxer of historical significance and is falling prey to boxing politics and ducking.

Why do you think Lopez and his father were goading Loma to not have the rematch clause in the contract? I knew a robbery was on our hands. Arum was going to make sure of it. I made good money on that bet even though i had it a draw. Those score cards were grotesque. But the usual score cards we get when an overseas fighter takes on anyone from the US or Mexico.
