Wait, never saw it coming? Didn't Schaeffer and PBC essentially do the same to GBP? If I remember correctly, Wilder, Charlos, Broner, Garcia and Spence were GBP fighters. I respect you but perhaps your bias is clouding some of your memory?

I am not criticizing PBC, not should we criticize Matchroom. Those fighters left for a reason and many have spoken about it. In boxing, you can't really present any of the players as purely saints or sinners. It's a grimy business.

A previous poster stated that GBP puts on some of the best shows in the US and I feel that is a fairly accurate statement even though it's a subjective one. Hopefully GBP finds a provider that is ideal for him and allows us, the fans, to be able to access those fights easily and affordably (whether that be via app or network or whatever).

They only want to fight under the safest of circumstances where they get overpaid and then the promoters want to keep putting on slot-filling mismatches on their sugar daddys' networks as a steady form of income for both. It's not just a DAZN problem, the whole sport is destined to failure following the current business model started by the PBC and I was hoping that DAZN was going to bring some normality and sustainability to the sport but apparently they lost interest too.
PBC didn’t start this business model, HBO did by signing guys to exclusive deals and signing an exclusive deal with TR and GBP.

PBC then did the deal with Fox and SHO.

DAZN simply followed suit and signed matchroom and GBP to exclusive deals.

Good post. It's a problem across the board here for the American boxing scene (I can't speak for any other country). I'm not entirely sure what the best solution is (if there is one).

I truly believe that if you do the proper marketing, you can generate interest among both hardcore and casual fans. I think that involves making entertaining fights, not discarding fighters because of a loss and developing a platform to develop personalities and storylines. Boxing used to do this before and MMA has had more recent success adopting this approach.

Another thing that needs to be resolved is the unwillingness of banners to work together. It reminds me of an old job of mine, supervisors and managers were more interested in sabotaging each other than in getting the job done. The organization as whole suffered and work product did as well.

What good, use or service is Golden Boy is to DAZN now; Since they've both lost their star pupil Canelo Alvarez to the PBC and Fox?.

The problem is you can’t build stars on dazn. It’s a sports app and those arnt big in the USA…streaming movies, tv, etc etc yes, but dazn just never went anywhere except for those who want to see Canelo and even his popularity dwindled on dazn, and not only because of the obscure app but because his choices in weak European competition. The flaw in dazn is actually very simple….you can’t build franchise fighters on it. It will NEVER appeal to the American sports fan. If that hurts going down for Eddie Hearn fans in the U.K. then that’s their issue. No star has been made on dazn. Dazn could have only worked if every already made star from American boxing moved to it. That didn’t happen so it didn’t work. All we have to do is look at every major fight or proposed fight before someone got COVID or injured was a pbc fight this year

The biggest fight proposed this year was Joshua vs Fury. This was nothing to do with PBC. Though PBC did scuttle it.

None of them are cash cows as of yet. However, I will say that they do have star power potential with the crossover and mainstream casual fan but they are going to have to have some type of mainstream exposure.

However, a feeble attempt to build them underground on the world wide web could very well prove to be a difficult task to achieve because boxing is no longer a mainstream sport in the U.S. Anymore.

It's just a niche sport now with a cult following. Therefore, they are going to be very hard to find or ever even heard of,
