Not a ggg fan, but he ended up in 2 very close, disputed fights with Cinnamon. Til this day some people still argue ggg won both fights. How you can sit up here and pretend Canelo has dispatched every fighter who's disagreed with him is laughable.

Yea....agreed....I could care less about what a cinnamon lover says...there's no doubt in my mind that GGG won that first fight...he was beating cinnamon up there at the end....

Yes, ESPN reported it. They are not the source. They quote Plant verbatim in their articles. Which leads me to believe he is the source. And my point still stands. Plant says Canelo broke it off and the reasons he gives are that Canelo was unreasonable etc.

I suspect if you got team Canelo's answer on the subject it would be that the other side were putting in too many caveats and attaching strings to the deal.

Reading between the lines, it seems that Canelo suspected they might do a last minute switch so that they still get Canelo fighting on their promotional banner, but he wouldn't get his hands on the belt. And it doesn't sound like they were confident in guaranteeing Plant would turn up on the night.

Also, when Plant is laughing at Canelo for not getting 18 September, it reveals something about how keen he is to try and make this.

Much of what I've written here is speculation, admittedly; I normally prefer to stick to the facts. Happy to be put straight if someone does have the cold, hard facts of the situation.

When Canelo dropped out of the first negotiations his fans were adamant he could make $40 million fighting anybody. He went back to DAZN & found out the well has run dry with Eddie's new deal over there.

Plant is in the right in this negotiation. Most people don't know what the negotiation fell apart because of. The money was not the issue for plants purse. It was like an 80/20 or 85/15 split in canelo's favor the split was agreed on that was not the problem. This is what Canelo tried to do. There's a clause in the contract that if Canelo gets sick or injured they have to delay the event till he is able to perform. No biggie right, that seems reasonable?

But get this in the reverse case that Caleb plant gets injured or get popped for one of those bogus covid tests Canelo wants to keep the event on the same date with a replacement opponent and he wants PBC to still pay him the same amount of money the same front end guarantee. So let's say PBC guarantees 40 million dollars to Canelo for this fight. Canelo thinks he is still entitled to 40 million if in the last couple weeks something happens to Caleb plant and a b side alternate needs to be brought in. After all the promotional work they did for that. Not a different price point not less money he wants the exact same money in the event of an opponent change. That is absolutely crazy and that's why PBC would not sign off on it. Again like I said the greatest risk is either guy could test positive for covid with no symptoms because that's the nature of the PCR test. Canelo Flexed his Diva muscles on this one big time.

His alternative was to try to get Bivol down to as low of a weight as possible with a rehydration clause as well. A little trick he learn from Floyd Mayweather. The Bivol fight fell apart too. And now Canelo does not have an opponent because he tried to **** two different promoters. The September date was a traditional big pay-per-view date fight weekend in the Latino Community built up by Oscar De La Hoya and Bob arum. He lost that day by screwing around and that is why Caleb plant is taunting him.

It was going to be a career-high Payday for both of these guys but it is dependent on it being a unification title fight for Supremacy in the 168 lb division and a successful pay-per-view. The main financier of the fight you know the person that actually puts up the 40 million? Is PBC. Canelo doesn't pay himself 40 million. Previously Canelo was getting corporate welfare from dazn and PBC already spent all of its corporate welfare money keeping itself afloat the last few years. PBC won't pay 40 million unless they get a genuine pay-per-view attraction fight that generates over 40 million in Revenue. They won't pay for Canelo to fight a replacement opponent or anyone other than Caleb plant. Never in the history of boxing has someone asked for that sort of deal. He is absolutely f$$king delusional. As are the people that comment without even reading the article..
