Caleb needs to shut his mouth. Get the fight signed and sealed then say whatever afterwards. Canelo needs to handle his business of being undisputed. We have seen a broken bicep, a broken fighter, and then a broken cheek, I’d like to see Canelo break Calebs jaw for a nice balanced tomato can crushing undisputed run. I personally have enjoyed this run and after it’s over I think we will see some bigger fights.

All credit to Canelo, he puts on a show for the fans at any weight that he’s at. I just don’t feel the fighters he’s faced the past few years are exactly quality. It just a weak era right now, there’s no one really that’s legitimately ppv quality. Caleb Plant and BJ Saunders are supposed to have been the best at super middle. Those guys are showtime cable tv or fox Saturday night fights quality.

Canelo’s guaranteed income demand is ridiculous and unfair but he’s the the cash cow right now. It’s a mob-like negotiation stance, telling you “do you know who I am.” Someone will fall for it.

It’s not his fault that he’s in a weak division. The naysayers will say he should go up to 175 to fight bigger guys on account of his Kovalev win, however, that’s ignoring where he started out. Look at Calzaghe … started at 168 and finished at 175.
Spence will prolly finish his career at 154. Same with Porter and perhaps Thurman.
Andre Ward started at 175 then dropped to 168 before going back to 175.

So why is Canelo under a different microscope? He’s got 10 fights (I’m guessing) left in his career to guarantee himself an ATG status. Best option is to stay at 168 and defend it against the top guys.
