Not a surprise at all. Notice how the two biggest stars in boxing just get their head down and carry on? None of that talking bollocks to the press.

You never answered my question. If it’s the marketing, why aren’t all the other boxers ever signed by Matchroom a quarter as big as Josh? At least one should be a quarter as big since you think it’s marketing.
Also, if he’s not an amazing boxer, who is better than him in the division? And list 5 boxers that are amazing according to you.
Failure to answer these questions would show you’re a muppet. LMAOOO.
Manny Pacquiao
Canelo Alverez
Terrence Crawford
Nayoa Inoue
5 fantastic Boxer, atleast a level above Anthony Joshua who is a very good Boxer and quite possibly the best in the division.
Why is he such a star if he isn't fantastic and isn't marketed any different to other fighters is that he is an Olympic gold medalist, is a heavyweight, is a knock out artist, is a very entertaining fighter, is likable, is seriously ripped, comes across really well.
A great combination, he gets all my credit and I'm a big fan. But you are a fan boy you can't take anybody saying anything less than he is a perfect specimen in every single way.

I think this is an intentional puff piece meant to drum up interest in a fight casuals aren't all that hyped for.
Joshua didn't sell out the Povetkin when they hype for him was massive in 2018. And against Usyk, who no one really rates at heavyweight, they sell out in 24 hours???? With covid too??? Hmmm
Sounds like something thats being artificially inflated to make it seem like there is more interest in this fight than there actually is. I'm not yet convinced.
As said before, the key to Joshua is the feeling you're on board a hype train. I think a lot of his casual fanbase buys into the fact that he's popular, I'm not entirely sure they actually find him actually compelling. Hence why half the comments in here about Fury and Wilder lol.

Apart from Mayweather, none of those guys are better boxers than AJ. Manny is a legend but when he was at AJ’s stage in his career - he was getting put to sleep by average boxers. PED elevated him to where he’s now. I might give you Manny because he’s a legend.
There’s nothing amazing about Canelo apart from being caught using PED twice and stealing at least 2 fights he clearly lost. Anyone would look invincible if allowed to roid up and pick euro bums to knock off. Wilder made a career out of doing that - the only difference is that he picked American bums.
I like Crawford but can you name the big names he has fought in his division? You have to fight decent opponents to be amazing - something Crawford is yet to do. The same is applicable to Inoue. Who has he fought?
So what has that got to do with marketing and promoter? The man won his gold medal by himself. Became a great boxer through hard work and dedication. All the accolades have absolutely nothing to do with marketing but who he’s as a person. He’s self-made. And people just appreciate his greatness.
He was always gonna be a superstar even if he had promoted himself. And the only thing that would’ve held him back is losing. Hearn is just lucky he fell on his lap and he built an empire off Josh’s back. Not the other way around. And that’s why all the other promoters inherently hate Hearn and want AJ to lose.Last edited by BangEM; 08-04-2021, 03:43 PM.

They gave tickets away to some of Fury's fight here in the USA and the trilogy fight still has plenty of tickets available right now. also, the reason why the casual fans find AJ compelling is because he fights the best guys out there. Not like Wilder and Fury who fight the biggest bums they can find.
King of Gilgamesh presented some very cogent reasons regarding why this stat sounds off... frankly I don't know anything about how tickets are sold but I'm listening to this debate and some things make sense, some do not.
