A year after beating Keef, Manny started chasing Ryan Garcia, a lightweight, and McGregor, effectively a non-boxer, despite Spence being readily available.

The WBA knew that Manny was chasing money and if he'd taken those fights he'd have another year layoff afterwards, because that's where he's at now.

Problem is Manny came out in public last year and refused to do any fights without fans. Which means no 2020.

Don't matter. Spence fought during COVID (Danny), Porter fought during COVID (Formella), etc etc etc.

As far as belt holders, only Crawford and Manny that seemed to have an issue.

Manny also wanted to fight last year despite COVID. Manny's fights require much bigger budgets because of his status. Without fans being allowed for boxing matches last year, promoters just couldn't find an appropriate match for him that would make financial sense.

The point is that the WBA never even notified Pacquiao that he should defend his WBA title against Ugas or asked for an explanation for why he didn't fight last year. Everybody knows how many fights were cancelled or never scheduled because of COVID yet they stripped him of the title anyways. The previous titleholder Thurman wasn't treated so harshly before that for the same title despite not fighting for 2 years.

Whatever it balances out as pac has received titles he didn’t deserve in the past also with the intention of chasing the farce of being an actual 8 division champion. Either way, whether that belt is involved or not, it doesn’t add to the interest of the fight. The fight will do good numbers regardless of a lame title.
