Why is Gervonta Davis considered a star?

He did 200k buys for the Barrios fight.

    Is that good?

People are too used to Bud and Charlo's 100k buys so 200k is considered a resounding success.

Yes, it's good. Perspective. You expecting him to sell a million?

        There’s something to this.

For this era yeah. Taking into account the higher price and boxing not being as mainstream as before. He just needs the right opponents to crack those bigger numbers

I mean, Floyd and Manny started their PPV careers at the 300K range. But they had marquee opponents and in Manny's case he headlined at lower weight divisions than Floyd, and still holds the record with Marquez for the highest PPV buys below 147 at 400,000 for Pacquiao-Marquez II

Nah but a star should sell more than 200k

Floyd and Ellerbe are the only ones calling him a star.

Wouldn't you if you were his promoter?

Considering the risk he isn't taking, the risk/reward factor is very high.

He also sold 15,000 plus seats in Atlanta against a relative unknown.

Davis is a boxing star. Even 200k in today's era, against a unknown name? That's pretty good. His area was also packed and they did great numbers at the gate. In and around his division, no1 else is doing those numbers.
