We in the US will probably get these crews for the Matchroom UK fight cards, I couldn't say one thing or the other about them though. On the topic of commentary crews, I really miss RJJ and Paulie. I miss Jimmy Lamps too, he was annoying at times but I still associate his voice with boxing at a young age.

Right now, in the US, Showtime has the best crew...even Abner is growing into his role some. DAZN's leaves some to be desired. Mora is growing on me and I don't dislike Mannix as much as others but they could definitely improve.

ESPN isn't terrible but I can't stand Kriegel. FOX is bottom of the barrel for me, Kenny is fine but Mancini, Lewis and Goossen just say dumb things. Alot.

Costello is a great commentator, maybe my favourite, but I feel sorry for him the idiots he's been lumped in with.

Accepted. The rest of the post doesn’t mean much, not here to cap for promotional outfits. Would leave that to cultists

Does Costello just do radio commentary? If so TV is somewhat of a different gig. None of that grand national style talking a mile a minute. You’ve got to be able to bring in the other commentators as well. Ask questions and want not.

He's done TV commentary for Olympic boxing and a few other major televised tournaments. He's a very experienced broadcaster and I don't think he'll have any problems adapting his commentary style and interacting with other the commentators, who are mostly ex fighters. What I like about Costello is that he was a regular all round journalist who fell in love with boxing and devoted his career to it. You can tell he has a deep respect for the sport and for boxers themselves.

Typical Eddie trying to divert attention from his crap fights in his daddy's back garden. It should be about the fights not this nonsense. It goes to show matchroom is for casuals.

Eddie knows the dazn price will go up later so he's just using july/august for 3 cards in his back garden. decent, fun cards..a lot of matchroom uk favourites but not really any huge names will be on those and certainly not any significant 50-50 fights that are top drawer except lower down the rankings.

With pbc, huge exciting cards are coming that i wont be paying for....but still at $70 ppv price i dont even count those to the credit of the promotional outfit. i think the co-main event for fury-wilder is turd.
ajagba vs ortiz would have been worth hyping.

However the ones im liking that deserve credit are Jermell Charlo vs Castano and Fulton (who ive only watched once and im aware he is a big prospects) vs Figueroa.
Some of the cards will have 50-50 fights so that's good. if i inc the Benavidez fight, then maybe at a push, 3 top cards...again i dont count ppv no more.
tbh a lot of undercard fights, i dont watch those unless i hear how good they were later. i tend to watch co-main event and main event fights only.
i guess this is where matchroom do the job for me because im more aware of their undercard low level fights too so i tend to watch most of the fights with them. of course that's down to watching eddie hearn ifl interviews and knowing who is who. That doesnt tend to happen with pbc. no one is going to listen to ellerbe or sam watson or whoever talk for 1 hour and give us the full low down on upcoming fights.
Here, I must stop you and respectfully disagree. Eddie Hearn has put all of his eggs in one basket by taking his entire roster off of linear television. He ended his working relationship with Sky and now doing exclusive business with DAZN.

pbc really does a crap job at exposure. it's not hard, just get some GOOD youtube channels (not eli nutsack) to regularly do interviews and put out content that's worth watching.

Now that's wonderful news to me as a boxing fan but not so much with the casual fan. Taking the sport entirely off of television would slowly erode an already niche sport.

The new up and upcoming prospects won't get the exposure they need in order to become crossover mainstream stars with the casual fan by fighting exclusively underground on the world wide web.

They will be very hard to find and noticed that way. DAZN is only popular among boxing fans but not casual fans. Overall, though good post! You've made some great points to which I tend to agree.

DAZN has had some good cards and some pedestrian ones. I'd say the same for ESPN/ESPN+. If I was grading them, I'd put Showtime as the best overall content with ESPN and DAZN in the middle and FOX at the bottom. I'd probably rate the Matchroom cards better than the Golden Boy but I'm honestly not grading them with pen and paper (although I'm sure some of you are).

Thanks and I agree! Any boxing is good boxing to me; Whether it's on Top Rank, The PBC or Matchroom Boxing.

                      A few things..

                      1) Sky sports overall is divided by different sports anyway. Eddie also pointed out that in his view, there arent many from other sports going into boxing. It's a hardcore boxing fanbase that only grows through social media/youtube growth. So for example if there's a big football match and they put on an ad showing a big boxing fight, the ad views to ppv buys or even general viewership won't really grow. They've tested this multiple times. In recent times a typical non-ppv matchroom card does not do significant numbers.

                      2) AJ is massively popular for example, not because of sky sports promotion but because of the bbc exposure he got as an olympian. over the yrs it's the appearance he's done through sponsorship campaigns, through his appearance on chat shows, top gear etc.

                      3) Dazn signed an agreement with the bbc, that is, free to air tv. So their guys will get exposure through the bbc which will show boxing content/highlights.

                      4) sky sports biggest method of advertising has been through billboard ads all over the country. In fact the UFC is the same. When there are billboard ads for say, Mgregor vs Khabib, all up and down the country, that is where casual eyes take the first interest. Quite literally when driving or walking, in that alpha brainwave state, you see billboards, you remember it.
watching tv and being on your phone, not as much because we're already bombarded with info.

                      5) my main point of exposure was not about casuals. it was about us boxing fans receiving more information on existing talent and prospects.
For example nowadays the british fight cards are watched by every boxing fan with dazn. So conor benn suddenly can walk around the US and anyone with dazn knows who he is. that wouldnt happen for random pbc prospects.
if fulton was walking around boxing gyms in the US, trust me, a lot of people would not know who he is by face.
However that's not the point either...it isnt about who is popular per se. it's just about our love for the sport and our wish to see more boxing content.
i remember when Michelle joy phelps did lengthy interviews with keith thurman. There were some real good ones and he got emotional in one of them.
that is the type of content we should see regularly for all of them.

why do you think dillian whyte is a fan fav? TRUST me, it's because of his ifl interviews. on the surface he is a trash talking hater. in interviews extended over the yrs you get to know what he's about more, his way of looking about boxing and life. the result is, people like him and root for him.

pbc shut the door on outside media. it is one big cult where everything is controlled.
                      wilder only goes through lgbtc.
when was the last danny garcia interview? when did errol spence jr ever do lengthy interviews going in on his life?
watch ifl, boxing social etc, it is constant..and the boxing talent pool isnt even that great here.

the only thing we get is eli nutsack kissing ar5e and asking dumb corny questions.

notice matchroom US also have a good relationship with 3-4 diff channels over there too?

Did we get to see inside a pbc boxing bubble? content like this?

secondsout produce some good content, Radio Raheem. he's the only one i think is really allowed inside pbc circles.
