Whyte needed to fight Ortiz and Breazeale to get to Wilder. He refused over a 2 year span as the sources show. Then he needed to get past Povetkin. He got flattened. Now, the push is for undisputed so he'll have to wait for Wilder to knock out Fury, then wait for Wilder to knock out Joshua in their undisputed fight (provided Joshua gets past Usyk).

So Wilder didn't try to fight him, you just lied, thanks for clearing that up.

Very astute post! I tend to excuse ignorance of a sort... When the media crafts an image, it can be difficult for the average Joe to see through the mix... and Joshua is a clean cut, likable sort... Not to bright, not dumb as a post... But what tends to irk me is fair weathered friendships. If one is to hate Whyte, but then suddenly change horses midstream, that is really perverted. i have always given Dylan credit. He is not supreme as a talent, but has come from a vastly inferior boxing sport and done a nice job for himself using angles, combos, with a few veteran touches here and there... In this gang, aside from Fury I think anyone is beatable. Whyte actually gave joshua a good fight.

The thing with lionizing promoters... that is one I just will never get.

I would favour Wilder (even more so after the Povetkin/Whyte debacle) but all the trash talk is meaningless unless they fight, and we all know they probably never will.

I think whyte is the kind of cat that sticks around toop contention for a decade or so, like a razor ruddock or a David Tua but never wins a title. He loses here and there but gets back to serious contention. I’ll say this for him, great left hook

Actually he did. Back in 2018, Wilder told Hearn when Whyte wasn't mandatory (only WBC #1), that he would agree to fight Whyte if Hearn guaranteed a fight with Joshua next. Hearn refused:

Whyte was always used by Hearn to protect Joshua. After the Ruiz fight, we now know why...
