No way you could call one person the greatest lightweight. It’s too many greats to say that.
A guy above me literally just did it.

I think you have to be careful. The Davey Moore win in retrospect looks less impressive if you just go by his record.

but given where Moore was at the time of the fight, that win is sensational. The reaction from the crowd let’s you know just how big of an upset that was.

The Buchanan and Barkley wins IMO are also much better than they are “ on paper” just looking at the records of the fighters.

          Barkley
          Moore

Far better than Floyd’s cherry picked resume of past prime or still green, often smaller, opponents.

I think sometimes posters just honestly don’t know. Context means everything. Like with Davey Moore. He was like 11-0 or 12-0 when he fought Duran. Not really a big deal. But he had just ko’d kalule the fight before Duran, which was a monster win.

Duran was the HUGE underdog against Moore. Most thought he was like “cashing out”. Instead of the usual party and BS between fights he came in focused and ready.

I think we owe it to educate people who may not know.

Obviously the the bar is low for some fighters.

If Canelo was green then SRL was definitely green when Duran beat him. But I forgot different standards for certain fighters.

Then you have Leonard at 147, Moore at 154, Barkley at 168 are the names that the stick out to other guys.
                  Absolutely.

What’s up. Big Dunn you know you’re one of my favorite posters but Moore fought Gary Guiden before he faced Duran. He faced Kalule a whole year earlier. No fighters of this generation would get credit for beating someone with 11 wins. I’m just saying it’s obvious we don’t hold all fighters to the same standards. Kalube was definitely solid but other than him and Benitez there’s not much else on Moore resume due to his career being tragically shortened.
