Nah. Cruiserweights DRAIN to be 200lbs. In the ring Cruisers are like 210lbs on average.

Jacobs was like 180lbs whereas GGG was 175lbs. That's only a 5lb variance. variance is common practice in boxing for all weight classes on fight night. It's the dumbest thing to cry about. In sparring, variance can be 20lbs north or south, lite sparring. GGG fans cry wolf about anything. It's in their gay nature.

      - -Yup, typical promoter snafu in making the transition from Euro to American market.

We know the top dog then at 168 Son of Dog who wanted to fight Son of Senior TUE 51-0 at a 162 catchweight was unwilling to fight Golovkin at 164 catchweight. Then we had Son of Senior hisself refusing his offer to come down to 154. In the end, he did purt well fer hisself with American endorsements as the Ks and Loeffler did a brilliant job promoting him, but all the shine went out of his career when he and Loeffler ducked the immediate Canelo rematch for the smallish, inactive Vanes and he ain't ever been right since.

GGG has one of the worst careers in history for a supposed "great" fighter. Nothing but a can-crusher with ZERO signature wins. Controversial fight with Jacobs, 2 controversial fights with Canelo, and a clear robbery vs Derveychenko.....his best win is Lemieux lmao

          - -Nothing controversial about Danny who chose to run and stink. Yeah, not invincible vs Derv but no robbery, just the aftermath of taking repeated punches by Canelo where he ain't never gonna be the same again...

I was also jesting with that comment

It's his own fault fighting Nelo aged him so badly. Nelo on the other hand

Win or lose - and I agree he likely would have lost - taking the Ward fight would likely have put the Canelo fight out of reach for the foreseeable. Seriously if you were managing Golovkin and you'd been promised the Canelo fight next at your own weight why in God's name would you put it on hold to bounce up to 168 for a less lucrative more difficult fight then come back down again?

No manager ever would suggest such a move whether or not they thought they had a shot at beating Ward. The only sensible way to do it would be Canelo first then if he got the Win and there was no rematch a move up to fight Ward if that fight was still there. Telling me you would have done it differently?

I see Golovkin as an exceptional fighter but one whose late transition to the pro-game and unfortunate choice to start with the wrong promotor held him back from opportunities to show us all he could have achieved.

He did benefit hugely from being one of HBOs last star building projects - which I think might be kinda what's prompted the TSs thinking - but ultimately behind the scenes HBO was already creaking and for all the hyperbole never threw the money at GGG to get him top names when it would have mattered... In fact both GGG and Kovalev were had very much on the cheap, HBOs last gasp trying to build superstars on a shoestring, it's just LHW had a few names known to US audiences whereas MW was Euro heavy since most of the US MW sized guys saw more money campaigning at 154.

But yeah, unexceptional resume but very good fighter, what he represents though is the end of the HBO era of boxing which still holds a powerful nostalgia for most of us.

It's true Gennady was screwed worse than anyone in recent times. Clear win vs Canelo in the 1st fight robbing him of recognition as a generational talent, and a list of guys longer longer your arm that ducked him in and around the division.

A true beast. Major probs to Canelo for beating him narrowly in the 2nd fight though. What a top tier win, as was GGGs win over Canelo in first fight. Canrlo obviously juicing like a mutha****er too, before during and after.

You forgot to add no Andrade, no ward, no charlo.

and let’s be clear you liked him because he had no melanin.
