its ok if pac surrounds himself w/ yesmen, but roach should always have a direct line to pac when a fight is upcoming.

Roach is largely responsible for making Manny the boxer and rich man he is today, and puts in hours of dedication to the guy.

He has every right to be transparent about the fact his student and some around him are messing around.

Pac's shown some odd and naive ways before like purse split saga's, disapearing for ages and not answering the phone to Freddie or anyone.

I still got Pac in this but all this crap is certainly to Cotto's favour, closer fight then I first credited.

I hope they sort all of this out soon. Everyone is all over every move Pac makes. I think he knows what he is doing. He'll be ready to battle like always.

I don't think Pacman will have a problem with the conditioning aspect for the fight because Pacman has always been a well conditioned and great stamina fighter, but I do beleive that what Roach wants is to have more time to work on the stategy and all possible gamplans for the fight.

Roach realizes that Pacman will be facing the strongest and fastest oponents he has ever faced and that Cotto is also a type of fighter that can adjust to the different situation within a fight therefore he would like to prepare Pacman for a Plan A, B and C also.

Watching the Mosley fight he realized that Cotto outboxed a stronger guy with similar speed (not saying faster than Pacquiao) but at the same time had 7" more in reach than what Pacman and Cotto has, and Cotto neutralized that reach advantage with his counterpunching, hand speed and jab.

Remember initially Roach was the person from Pacman's camp pratically screaming and demanding that the fight should be at 142 or 143 because he wanted to have nore advantage against this dangerous fighter.

Pacman is a great fighter but Roach is a great trianer and he is doing what he is suppose to do, worrying and willing to prepare his fighter for his next fight specially when his next fight will be the most dangerous fight of his boxer's career.

I am not a Pac fan, but I do know that a lot of people let notoriety or success go to their heads and forget where they came from. I don't know if that is what is happening here, but Roach has a point. This will be the toughest fight of Pac's career and he needs to take it seriously and not allow the "yes men" to cloud his judgement. If Pac loses this fight, especially if he loses by KO, the only option he will have will be a fight with Juan Manuel Marquez for about one-third of the money he is getting for the Cotto fight in an arena with about half the crowd that will show up for Cotto.

Unfortunately, that is what it takes for some people to remember where they came from.

But that works both ways. Do you honestly think that if Pac REALLY wanted to talk to Roach, that he is not capable of giving him a call? I mean, Pac didnt even call Freddie to offer his condolences on the death of Freddie's brother Joey. Isnt that a bit odd? Perhaps Koncz has him locked in his room with no phone.......lol

Yes, everyone wants to blame Koncz for all this, but come on. Pac is a grown ass man. If he wants to call Freddie, he will. But if would appear that for whatever reason, Pac doesnt feel like talking to Freddie just yet. He hasnt even spoken to him since the Hatton fight, according to Freddie. To me that doesnt sound at all like 2 guys who are very "close".

And whether its 10 weeks, or 8 weeks, it doesnt really matter. Pac is a seasoned pro. He knows what he needs to do physically to prepare for this fight, and it wont take 10 weeks to implement the actual fight strategy, because Pac's strategy is never all that complicated. He doesnt really need Freddie for the physical preparation. Sure, it would be preferable, but its not essential.

The mistake Freddie is making here is in making this stuff public. Koncz was right by saying "this should be handled internally". Nothing good can come from this being out in the media, and Freddie may even be messing with Pac's confidence by saying some of the things he's been saying. But like I said, Pac is a seasoned pro, so hopefully none of this junk ends up being an issue.............

And as for Koncz, the guy may be a complete tool. I dont know him, so I couldnt say. But alot of people pile on the guy because he's not a "boxing guy". I can tell you that the role of an "advisor" is not all about boxing. A person with a backround in entertainment (like Al Haymon) is equally qualified to "advise" a fighter, because the issues (movies, endorsements, appearances, financials, investments, lawsuit protection, etc.) have little to do specifically with "boxing" per se. For example, other than negotiating opponents and bout contracts with Don, the majority of what I do for Nate these days relates to his investments, his real estate portfolio, asset protection, financial consulting, legal and operational aspects of his companies Voodoo Management and CT Equity, and things of that nature. The "boxing" side of it is actually quite small when you think about it.
