Haney-Linares: Boxing Fans are the Absolute Worst

I was rooting for Linares but Jesus Christ guys. If Haney had gone out there and fought like Demetrius Andrade you guys would have been busting his balls about how unwatchable he is (and would be right to do so). Instead he going out there with bad intentions, tried to get the stoppage and gave the fans a show. Linares came in the shape of his life and was able to weather the storm.... Haney got rocked going for the KO but so what? Would you have rather he spent the whole fight jabbing or in a wide stance fighting a negative-ass, unwatchable 12 rounds? GTFO. Linares caught him with a good one but overall Haney beat the dog **** out of Linares and showed a lot of skill.

Linares is a huge puncher for the weight and clipped Lomachenko as well. Is Loma a fraud? Come on.

All these threads and I'm not seeing one post about the fact that it was a damned good fight. You guys are just out here praying Haney fails.

Actually, yeah most people did use that as a reason to call Loma a fraud lol. Not disagreeing with the rest of what you said. I still think he needs to get Bill out of his corner though.

It was a great fight and a good learning experience for Haney. He needed a fight like this to be honest IMO.

I didn't like the fact that he couldn't come to terms he was hurt but maybe when he watched tape he will realize how bad it was.

After that round he got clipped he was gone. Laughing, full mouth on the water bottle ect. I give him props for hanging in there because I thought 100 he was going down the next round.

Either way best match I've seen in a while.

Linares did not come in the shape of his life. In the Fight Hub video after the fight he said he was tired early.

Haney was getting caught from the opening bell. Linares was catching him with left hooks in round one and his problem was he kept trying it instead of mixing it up to the body and sneaking it in. If Linares would have been more active; he even said it himself, he could have stopped Haney early.

Linares is not a big puncher lmao. He caught Loma with a probing right hand, just Loma walked into it.

Haney is shet and they been protecting him. Two rounds to recover from one shot and this kid is runnin and huggin??

          Paul,

Haney already rubbed people the wrong way due to the way he 'won' his title. Which was by complaining via email about he should be the WBC champion because Lomachenko dropped the title to go fight a tougher opponent who had just destroyed a top 3 LW (Lopez vs Commey). Literally no one on Earth sees Haney as more dangerous than Lopez. Well, maybe about 100 people with agendas do.

Okay now, this guy is being fed showcase fights. He is blatantly being fed chinny, old fighters so that he can get KO's. And he is failing at that too. So he is now a paper champion who is also weak.

He's just a weak champion. There's no other way to put it. ABC org's entitle these divas to think they are "champion". And these weak divas have the right to gain a major title without doing anything, just go to court, threaten legal action, and they become legal champions (or email champion as Lopez calls him). Not earning it.

I was not part of that era, but I wish boxing could go back to one champion per weight class. The champion at 135 is Teofimo Lopez. That's who fans recognize as the champ right now. There's very little doubt in my mind that Teofimo Lopez would have destroyed and retired the versions of Gamboa and Linares that Haney was given.

TL;DR: Haney is a fake champion that is being shoved down fans throats and they don't like it so they express their displeasure of this weak paper champion through social media/forums.

This is the correct take... It was a great a fight, Haney did what he could to ensure it was an entertaining fight and got buzzed but was able to weather the storm and hold on to win. I thought these were the kind of fights and situations we want to see young champions in. It turns out Haney is supremely talented but also vulnerable, maybe a bit like Linares was when he was coming up, that should be a good thing it should mean that in the loaded divisions he'll be competing in with all the other young talent that is and will be in those divisions that he'll be in a lot of exciting and potentially great fights. That should make us fans happy, I really don't understand the hate...

You need to shut the **** up. I get tired of people acting as though they're impartial when it boils down to rooting for their favourite fighter.

What's Lopez's response been towards fights with Davis and Haney? He is the champ, but after one relevant victory he is already behaving like a diva.

People might be mad at Haney for the way he won a belt but in an ideal world Lomachenko would've just had to fight him and got him out of there. WBC did this. Why are we mad at the kid because of the corruption that has been the sport for most of it's history?

he beat 2 of the top 3 guys in the division(he was the other guy in the top 3) and he just said he would fight haney next. talk is cheap of course but has haney made any offers to lopez...nope! dazn ran out of money or what? they are throwing offers left and right at people when they want fights...yet nothing for haney.and tank davis come on man. hes basically in a different sport. hes not doing anything.

loma already said he was fighting the commey-lopez winner. right after that haney starts saying loma is ducking me. easy to bark from behind the fence. you can pretend politics dont exist all you want but loma even said send me a good offer and ill fight, otherwise its lopez. welllll no offers came and haney was just fine with that. if you want to be real haney should have thanked loma for dropping the belt cause he would have gotten a much bigger split as he would not have been confined to taking the purse split share. all dazn had to do was actually try and make the fight...all they had to do was make an offer. they did not. and if you want further evidence that haney never wanted the fight hes now saying he wont fight loma cause loma lost to lopez. he just fought a guy that lost to loma. its not making any sense at all. its marketing
