You are absolutely right. it was the pandemic as he needed a live gate.

The WBO and IBF aren't as bad but they are not fine.

The WBO pretty much does whatever Arum and/or Warren want.

The IBF is the best at following their own rules, but their rankings are garbage and consequently they end up with bums as mandatory challengers derailing much better fights.

        All four are absolutely garbage.

The Ring has been compromised by De La Hoya but they're still better than the alphabet soups simply because they don't crown "interim" or "regular" champions and because they rank all the fighters in the division. The alphabet soups only rank fighters following specific paths towards their own belts and they don't rank each other's champions, so a vacant title fight for the IBF/WBC/WBO/WBA almost NEVER features the two best fighters in the division.

The TBRB has picked up where the old Ring left off and they're currently the most credible organization. Their rankings aren't perfect but at least they're not in it for the cash

good post... but, neither 'The Ring' nor TBRB can be viewed as an authority... because... 1) they do not mandate... 2) they do not sanction

they are just an opinion... and opinions are like ass-holes, everyone has one

it is naive to view a magazine and a website as some type of boxing authority... they are not a organization, they are a magazine and a website

they are just a tool, nothing more... and just like the ABC org's, neither of them are definitive

'The Ring' had Canelo ranked the #1 middleweight on the planet... despite the fact that he had never weighed more than 155, and despite the fact that he had never faced a middleweight opponent... and TBRB rankings have also been just as ****** on occasion

I have been saying this for YEARS... fans are on their own... but that should not be a problem, knowledgeable fans know who the top fighters are

I didn't say the TBRB was an authority, I said they were the best we have. And I think that stands, ***** and all.

Politics at its finest. Pac held that belt hostage with no activity, so he got stripped, and now they want to do ugas dirty.

Don't worry guys. Am pretty sure Mr. Haymon already made Ugas sign a contract for him to shut up cos Spence will lay the beatdown on him next.
He fought for the interim belt and was "elevated" to Champ because Pacquiao's inactivity. Now they see a good chunk of money, and they want a slice of the pie. It's about money. They knew Ugas vs spence was in the works. Here comes pacquio and steals the show. So the alphabet soup wants in. It's $$$ the reason. Ugas wouldn't mind if he's paid to seat at ringside.

Good point. WBA has watered down their own product and the standards were so low to begin with for the organizations.

Thats the catch 22 though, I think the IBF's rankings are below par because they aren't corrupted by the promoters.

You can't have it both ways, you can't complain about mandos getting in the way of fights you want to see some times, and complain about alphabet orgs making the rules up as they go, they either follow their own rules or its corruption central.

At this point everyone thats pays attention know the belts are a complete con, take this case, or the WBC saying that Teo is undisputed and Haney is champ at the same time, the franchise belt is general, WBC not mandating Wilder v Whyte, and a million other examples, its just obvious they will make up the rules as they go for money, and they get away with it in part because of the ridiculous situation where there are 4-5 "world titles" for realistically the same competition. At least if there were only one organisation there would be far more scrutiny for these obviously corrupt decisions.
