  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Team Fury Made Zero Attempt To Save The Joshua Fight!

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom is still fuming over Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury completely falling through a week ago. Last weekend, an agreement appeared to be on the verge of being finalized for a full division unification between heavyweight champions Joshua and Fury.

I don't think young Edward will negotiate a fight again knowing that the fighter is involved in a arbitration case and people can only guess the outcome ......what a fool and no doubt by the sounds of it he was wanting Fury's side to folk up step aside money to which Wilder doesn't want to know anyway....a blinded by greed mug!

Not just that "Fury made zero attempt to save the Joshua fight", they also made zero attempts to win the arbitration.
Fury's defense in mediation was, "I'm not fighting Wilder again", not why the rematch wasn't possible inside the stipulated period.
And they probably "defended" themselves the same way in arbitration.
They wanted to lose the case against Wilder.

Wilder signature was dated 20th of May 2021, Fury's dated 22nd of May. Arbitration date announced decision on the 18th if am right.

Something tells me Arum and Warren already knows the judgement prior to the announcement date. I doubt Fury himself knew. Now it made sense why Arum and Warren were sooo negative about the Joshua fight and talking about not announcing anything.

Team Fury and Arum did not want to save Hearn's a$$...what a surprise?

Fury is going to fight Wilder and, by Hearn's own admission, get $20m+. IF the sales are good, he might get a lot more while staying in Vegas. The only person butthurt here is Hearn who put in the effort and whose own reputation will now be tainted, at least in front of the Saudis. He told them to start making arrangements and he would deliver a fight which he couldn't. Arum never talked to anyone so doesn't have to phone any of his investors and apologize.

Sure, there is money in the Fury-Joshua fight of which Arum and Fury would have got a share. But I reckon Arum and Fury think they can still get that money after collecting the Wilder cheque. In fact, the fight may happen in the US for which Arum may get even more money and Fury even more fame. So, if things go to plan, neither Arum nor Fury loses out on anything. If the Saudi deal is there and good, they will cash in later. All that is, of course, subject to Fury beating Wilder.

If Hearns is really telling the truth, he said Fury had signed to fight Joshua. So, perhaps he should be talking Arum to court and ask for compensation. He was told Wilder is not a problem so he can start negotiations but Wilder was indeed a problem. Otherwise, it is not exactly as Hearn says it is. It was all a verbal understanding and awaiting the arbitration in which case, Hearn just climaxed too soon trying to sell a fight ahead of time.

All the morons - "Hearns a fool for trying to make the biggest fight in the sport, not the people that mislead everyone, it's Hearn's fault"

            How biased can you get?

He is right they started talking about how long fury out the ring now he gets a fight against a fighter who has been on a long layoff then they can fight Joshua next.

Next year they fight and do it in Wembley for selfish reasons if it ever happens

If Fury was true to his word, and the Joshua fight was on, and he wanted the fight, and he'd signed an in principle agreement, and he didn't want to fight Wilder, and he wanted to win the arbitration... If all of that information that came from his own mouth was true. In fact, if any of that was true. Then, yes, he should be suing his manager.

But he's not. So draw your own conclusions.

The outcome is that he's now facing up to a fight that could have already taken place months ago. Fury has been without income for 18 months of his prime. And he's the lost the biggest payday of his career.

So why is he on board with what has happened?

Again, you should be able to draw your own conclusions.

Hearn seems genuinely pissed off and I believe most of what he's saying but he didn't like it when Kugan was asking if he knew the arbitration could stop the fight from happening and whether it's a good idea to negotiate a fight with someone who's in the middle of an arbitration case. He couldn't really give a straight answer, I think he knows he ****ed up there.

Also, I think he said an arbitrator can't order a fight but isn't that what happened with the Lewis-Rahman rematch?

I just don't understand this weird move from team Fury, why not fight Wilder in December when he wanted the rematch instead of pretending to never want to fight him again, then pretending to want to fight Kabayel instead, then pretending to negotiate for an AJ fight all while knowing it could potentially not happen? Strange decision making throughout, at first I thought they were trying to slyly bypass the Wilder fight to get AJ sooner but the fact that they never made an effort to make that fight, nor did they make any effort to negotiate a step-aside fee/guarantee at the winner with Wilder, just makes it more confusing. Was all this just to delay the Wilder rematch or are they doing all this to duck AJ? Weird behavior.

Fury never wanted to fight Joshua it was all a bluff.......the arena was already reserved in Vegas .....both parties signed to fight two and three days after the arbitration ruling what does that tell you.
After watching fast Eddie’s interview on YT yesterday it’s plain as day that fury played along ....Sunday night announces to the world the Saudi fight is on and will make history on twitter and after Monday never says a word on fight or arbitration ruling and announces that he has signed to fight wilder again.......think about it a fighter that has just thrown a 90 million purse away and then sides to fight a trilogy fight and will earn no more than 30 million.
I wanted to see the Joshua fury fight because it settled arguments finally and we would finally have one champion but I think fury is happy fighting the B class fighters and has no intention of risking it against Joshua.
Bottom line is Joshua was 100% up for it and fury backed out.....that’s the bones of it.
As for Joshuas next fight that should be a massive fight in the U.K and should be a real challenge
