Roy Jones was a scared little girl, Mayweather took it a step further and Canelo has perfected the art

I don't give Bob the credit I do May because HW had no minimal when Bob was a HW so Bob never learned how to fight weighing more. He fought weighing the exact same as he had as a MW.
I was really young when Roy was HW so while I can watch the fight as an adult it's a bit harder to get the old interviews and stuff and get a feel for narrative shift. More directly; Today Roy tells it like he was going after Fitzs. I dunno if that was the tune in the 00s. If Roy has always said it that way, like he's going after Fitzs' record, then I give him full credit for getting the HW crown then going to LHW/CW. That is the Fitzs journey. If he's made this up in retrospect than it is what it is. He does by chance match up nicely still but without that intent stuff like getting out of HW quickly does seem more like avoiding trouble.
That said, there are more things to consider, imo, then what Shane has laid out. The weight issue for Bob is one thing, but also, who Roy fought. John Ruiz had beaten Holyfield and Lennox did duck him. I think it's a shame folks accept ducking just because they favor the duck to win, personally. So maybe in retrospect John wasn't a great HW champion but Lennox was just cashing out by the time Roy was a HW and ducking any real challenges.
Folks can say now Vitali, but Vitali made his name that night and Lennox came in fat like he always does when he doesn't appreciate his opposition. I'm not so sure Roy ducked Lennox...that would have been a massive money maker, I think Lennox wanted to cash in on an old Tyson then retire on that Tyson money.
Far as Canelo and Money are concerned. I don't see anything Canelo's done yet other than exaggerated claims pinned on super specific victories. Money did fight this type of fighter enough, or, didn't fight this fighter at the right time, anyone can do that ****. It's really simple actually. Floyd has like 10 more wins over champions than Canelo does, AND, Floyd's career begins in the 3 belt era while Canelo enjoys a 4 belt era his entire championship level run.
Let him dent a few more faces in then I'll say he's passed Floyd, but, right now, not even that close.Comment

Dumb thread. I'm not a Floyd fan but why was he obligated to move up to 160?
Why was GGG never obligated to move up? Kovalev? Maybe we should start demanding Loma to move up a 4th and 5th division if he truly wants to be considered great......Comment

Lewis didn’t duck Ruiz. He fought Michael Grant, who deserved the shot way more than Ruiz did, and the WBA stripped him.

GGG set the record for most consecutive middleweight title defenses.
If Mayweather set that record at 147 or 154, how could I criticize him?
Kovalev only staying in one weight likely hurts his legacy.

Mayweather and Mosley were one weight class apart.
Mosley’s last fight at 135 was in 1999.
Mayweather moved to 135 in 2000, right after Mosley moved up two weight classes.
They could have fought. Both were top poind for pound fighters.
Mayweather waited until Mosley was an old man.
