His eye socket turned a deep red right after that punch landed. That sht doesn't happen instantly unless there is something seriously wrong. Don't you find it strange that BJS wasn't able to throw any punches after that. Canelo and BJS both knew it was a grave injury right after impact.

Despite most here opinions I think BJS plans post-Canelo involved defending belts & a rematch with Canelo not having surgery for a fooked up orbital. He's definitely been guarding his lottery ticket, as I think most would & do, but now that he cashed in that ticket I don't necessarily see him walking away. Maybe this L lights a fire under his ass to take all his fights more seriously from here out or maybe he does decide he's made enough money & does walk. I think all that sh^t is more unknown than known still. I mean there is still paydays post-Canelo. Could even decide to move to 175 to try to become a 3 division title holder. Mainly doe I think he's worse than only a handful of folks that are reasonable opposition so he can still wins fights & make money boxing for a few more years if he chooses to.Comment

Look closely, BJS was saying he couldn't go on. They are making it seem like it was his corner but BJS was telling them he couldn't see and that there was something wrong and he couldn't continue. Why would anyone believe that BJS would try to convince his corner to continue. Especially now knowing how grave his injuries were.

As opposed to sending him out and making the poor bastard take loads of punishment, risk serious consequences, and eventually get to the point of taking a knee. I'll never understand how Dubois' team could do that to him.Comment

I'm not undermining anything. I was working on the assumption he does decide his own fate in boxing after this fight. If his injury doesn't allow for his return than obviously my stance isn't even in play.Comment

Folks really are trying to paint the picture that this fight was closer than it was. While the fight was competitive, I saw it the way the judges did. Canelo was up 6 rounds to 2 (or 5 rounds to 3 at best). Saunders was no match for Canelo. He doesn't have power and he isn't as sharp of a puncher as Canelo. Once he felt Canelo's power after Canelo stepped up the pressure, his heart left the fight. I knew he wasn't going to come out for the 9th round. There was a point where the cut man used the ins-swell to reopen Saunders eye. He still was looking for his corner to stop the fight, which they did. They say he suffered multiple fractures, and he most likely did, but Canelo took his will to continue the fight. Saunders proved to be a contender, but not a world class champion. His career at the top will tumble....as he continues to fight other world class fighters with power.
This. Saunders won some of the middle rounds but Canelo had this fight regardless of broken orbital bone. Nobody has really won rounds against canelo since jacobs and GGG so people were getting over hyped. That body attack canelo put in throughout the fight was money in the bank and lets say the orbital bone didnt crack, it still means that canelo eliminated Saunders ability to use his bend at the waist duck to evade further punches. Canelo was solving him and shutting down his options, while being far fresher of the two, while ahead on cards and continuing to walk him down.Comment
