Irish travelers split from the rest of the Irish during the time the English were taking Irish land around 1600 then even more joined that itinerant community during Cromwell genocide some 50 years later.

It's not undeserved if you've ever lived near a gypsy camp. Your kids will get beaten up and things will go missing from your gardens. We had 3 gypsy lads in our garden a few weeks ago and they ended up in about 6 other gardens over the next 30 minutes. That's the thing they don't do themselves any favors. You can say "they are not all like that" which is true but the experience you have is that a lot of them are. To start with they always break into areas to set up their camps in the first place, then when they leave they leave a load of garbage and much worse behind. The ones in the official camps are usually much nicer

Billy Joe Saunders is from this community. He’s a Romanichal gypsy which is a Romani sub group. So he isn’t Irish.

Tyson Fury is Irish Traveller. Snatch type gypsy. They also live nomadic lifestyle but culturally different. Predominantly Catholic, big weddings etc. They don’t originate from India .

                Still confused
Roma is a designation for a tribe... For example, the Aryans. the Aryans originated in the Caucasoid mountains in Europe, and migrated across the world. Everywhere they went they settled and blended with the indigenious population. So today we have a hint, mostly through langage and believe it, or not... food, not to mention religion. So... Iran is a cognate for Aryan, notice how they sound the same? In India the upper caste people, brahman have a lot of Aryan features. When the Aryans were moving across most people were still hunters and gatherers. Aryans were some of the first tribes to settle down and use agriculture and iron weapons to create a state structure.

Gypsies are similar. The Roma were a people from the Indus Valley area of India and migrated across the world. You see flourishes of the Roma in places like Spain, the flamminco dances... in the Balkans, etc. Same basic template as the aryans... a people that had the forsight to settle down, use milk producing animals and agriculture, to create stability. In these groups SOME always settled and SOME moved along.

The Slavicks are another such group... Some mixed with the Finns, and Swedes in Northern Europe, others went to where Poland is, and many settled in Russia,

Puerto Ricans migrated to New York!!! creating the Nueva Yorarican! or Borican (kidding).

Thats the same with any impoverished group of individuals. It is poverty and ignorance, not any ethnic trait. It is most unfortunate.
