What a waste of time. Fury could have gave Wilder his rematch & Joshua could have satisfied his WBO mandatory fighting Usyk. Then the undisputed title fight could have happened next with whomever won those 2 fights. It’s not like Fury/Joshua wouldn’t be a massive fight even if they both lost... Covid is an issue for sure so they should have both went in different directions until further notice. They both want to maximize their earnings for a full HW unification but unfortunately we are in the middle of a world wide pandemic. Either take a pay cut & make it work or move in another direction hoping both continue to win until fans can attend this superfight in a packed UK stadium where it belongs.

Trust Eddie, or go with the sure bet?

It is not about Eddie or Bob or AJ or Fury wanting it or not. It is simply that things are not "business as usual" in the middle of a pandemic. As I stated in another thread, the Saudis (or Abu Dhabi in the case of Crawford vs Manny) would like something in return for their money. That something is people flying in to watch the fight which generates some money and gives a tourism boost to their country, but that ain't happening right now. So, it obvious that commitments are shaky and things will change as travel bans come in and out of effect every so often. So, as Bob puts it, the Saudis are also making some demands related to broadcasting which will take a lot of time to iron out.
Joshua has had an in-between fight so Eddie and AJ might be willing to wait a few more weeks/month(s) but Arum and Fury aren't since their last fight was in Feb of 2020. Hence, the statement from Bob that this might take a while to iron out everything and each fighter should have an interim fight. Makes a lot of sense at this time. Sure, there is a risk involved in either of them losing but what can you do? Can you blame Fury and his team for not endlessly waiting for issues to get sorted out?

2 separate threads/stories linked to this promoter in a short period of time. Crawford-Pacquiao and now this fight. It would be interesting to see the comments from some people for both threads/stories side by side.
Anyways, Life's too short and regarding this story... not shocked or surprised, there are more interesting fight in other weight classes. This isn't exactly Loma vs Lopez 2 or Manny/Spence/Porter vs Bud, Bivol vs Beterbiev and I'm just starting..

Eddie is just conning the public into thinking he's doing all the legwork and Warren, Arum and Fury are the one's that don't want it.
Eddie is a liar. He doesn't want to risk his cash cow. Warren and Arum have a track record of putting on 50/50 fights with their top boxers in recent times, e.g Dubois-Joyce or Loma -Lopez etc. So why wouldn't they want Fury vs AJ when they are confident Fury will win. Eddie is only fooling his brainwashed followers. He has brainwashed them well.

I think Wilder will fight someone else ,I would be surprised if he wants an immediate third fight anyway with a new team around him .davefromvancouv
