The point isn't how Haney got a belt, but that he has one. If Garcia is such a badass, why not just fight Haney, kick his ass and become a REAL star? Oscar Saying that Haney needs to build his resume in order to get a fight with Garcia looks like a duck. And as for the money, waiting for these two to become PPV stars before we see them fight each other is bad for boxing.

I agree with that. I think ryan needs to work on his feet movement as wellComment

The problem with Haney is that he has a significantly smaller fanbase than Garcia does. It doesnt really make sense for Garcia to take on a fighter like Haney who is very risky for Garcia. He would make equal money fighting guys like Cambell and the like. I can see why it would make sense for Haney though, to take on a risky fighter like Garcia would be better than remaining stagnant like he has financially speaking.I just dont see what benefit Garcia has in risking a fight with Haney. I say keep the course and fight like 5 more top 10 guys to continue building his skills and brand, THEN cash in on a title fight. Respect to Teofimo for going straight to the top guy but in the end, he didnt really make the money he should have, his own promoter doesnt want to pay him what he deserves, AND he is stuck paying all the fees for holding on to those worthless belts. I dont see the profit there.Comment

Oscar is a smart promoter. At the end of the day, getting a win against undefeated Haney would be a big green check on Garcia's resume. Problem is, Haney is more dangerous than Fortuna even though I don't rate Haney. Haney is one big asterisk in a lot of ways, we do know that Garcia almost ended up in a pine box over a left hook from a over-glorified club fighter. Can Haney reproduce that hook, very possibly yes. Garcia is Oscar's new golden egg, and a cracked golden egg at that, no way in hell he puts that egg at risk before he can make some real money on it.Comment

Not so overrated that Garcia and Oscar are desperately trying to justify ducking the fight. And here's you, the Mexican American, trying to justify it too. Haha.
I have no idea why people are so quick to humiliate and degrade themselves. But you dudes seem to really like it over in North America.Comment

This comment right here is why boxing is in the current state its in. Promoters want to "marinate" every fight......and then convince fans to parrot the same sentiment. This is boxing not steak.....fights dont need marinating. Not a mma fan but UFC is enough proof of this.Comment

Remind me again when the last time a champ (email champ at that) was so desperate that hes begging for a fight with a non title holder?

For Haney to be such an easy touch Ryan and Loma sure avoided him like the plague.
Not his fault guys are truly tucking their nuts to avoid a fight.Comment
