Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Ryan Garcia On Different Level Than Haney; He Needs To Build Profile, Resume

Oscar De La Hoya disputes Devin Haney's version of why Ryan Garcia didn't agree to fight him after defeating Luke Campbell. Haney, the WBC world lightweight champion, feels it's obvious that Garcia ducked him. De La Hoya, whose company promotes Garcia, contends that Haney needs to strengthen his resume before Garcia will consider challenging him, even though Haney holds a 135-pound championship.

Oscar and Garcia are full of it. Using that bull to duck Haney. Why the hell is Garcia fighting Fortuna in a "title eliminator" when the title holder Haney already called out Garcia. GTFOH.

“So, look, we have this Fortuna, number one in the world, and it’s gonna be a great fight,” De La Hoya said. “And then, after that, we can talk and revisit the issue with Pacquiao, with the ‘Tank’ and with a possible Haney fight.”

The "Spin" is not working! Fortuna is NOT number one in the world, Teofimo Lopez is! Secondly, Ryan is only fighting Fortuna because he swerved Haney, went looking for Pacquiao, when Tank was already on deck (Al Haymon even called Ryan b4 the Campbell fight), and so he blew that opportunity! Just say, "we didn't think he was ready for Haney or Tank!"

Translation: we don't think Ryan can beat Devin Haney now and we'd like to make money in less difficult fights.

I smell a duck. Well at least Teofimo Lopez would fight Devin Haney though.
