Rematches happen when fights are competitive, it’s as simple as that.

Mayweather vs Castillo and Maidana were close and competitive, so there was a rematch.

Mayweather vs Cotto and Canelo were not close or competitive, so there was no rematch.

    Simple as that.
Endless sparring! There’s always sparring! Some days you are off other times usually consistent. This exists all throughout boxing. Just like Ward got clipped by Boone, anything can happen. It proves the risk had Floyd rematched Cotto or Canelo for his 6 division accomplishment. Boxing fans seem to forget that when you’re not weight deprived or operate at a more ideal level you hit harder!!! Being weight drained hinders performance. That’s a fact! Canelo had +30% power punch connect rate. Would Canelo be able to do that connect rate at 155-160 against Floyd in 2016, months after he beat Cotto? I would say yes. Even if we assume Canelo would do worse power punch connect rate against Floyd in a Middleweight fight, would Floyd be able to take the different power? Hence risk!

These little Asians have abnormal calves muscles that load up all the power planted while having short arms
how did Foreman school Moore?? he was losing until those 2 shots..wtf?

Rounds 1-3 Canelo was looking great for his age. Granted it wasn’t enough to topple Floyd’s Ring IQ, it was from rounds 4-8 that Floyd had the main groove to edge each round.

Floyd schooled Canelo and won pretty much every round.

ever heard the expression “anything can happen at Heavyweight...one punch.”

Moorer learned a lesson at Heavyweight. Hence schooled. You think Foreman won a Gold medal for looking the same as his mid 40’s performance? Bruh you need coffee ?

Canelo was a fkn prick back then. He got schooled. Instead of crying he grew up

I’ve gone over this many times! Look at Canelo’s power punch connect rate at 152lbs. It’s above 30%. Floyd would’ve gotten hurt by Cotto or Canelo at Middleweight. They had the ring IQ to learn the adjustment in the rematch. Floyd knew this

Floyd doesn’t even have many highlight shots of the Canelo fight from the span of 12 rounds. Floyd couldn’t even walk Pacquiao down. I saw more of Thurman at least risking forward with PAC.
Floyd is a greatly skilled counter puncher, dont expect him to be a hunt you down destroyer thats just such a narrow minded view throwing all individuals in the same basket, they are all different with their very own unique style and methods of winning, Mayweather was great at being Mayweather.

Floyds technical domination of Canelo was a 12 round highlight real, he made Canelo look useless.
