some those he destroyed were in their very first pro fight. there is no way he was going to fight any contenders

I wonder sometimes how many of you guys actually know what your watching.
He boxed much better, was faster, better gas tank, threw more combinations at 154 and 160. 168 is worst version of Canelo. He was in his prime vs Cotto and could not even beat up an old Cotto let alone stop him. Never heard so much garbage about a fighters prime than Canelo. 25 years old and 47 pro fights but apparently still not in his prime. lol.

I was a Cotto guy , Nelo beats him IMHO but it would be close .The last time Cotto was in his prime was the 1st Margarito fight , was never the same after that .

He's right, or did you forgot he used to fight at 155lbs and rehydrate to 170+. His peak is at 160/168.

Never been a fan of p4p, that ranking has always been a popularity contest. The better question would be: Who beat more and better fighters in their prime without controversy. Not names past their prime.

Huh? He’s always fought in the 154 class. You drinking.

Prime Cotto was 140, my opinion. Could say 147. Prime Canelo was 154. Two different weight classes.
I love Cotto but we never will know how good he would have been after the cement gloves incident. Was damaged goods after. Never the same. Heart of a lion though.
