I love Cotto but we never will know how good he would have been after the cement gloves incident. Was damaged goods after. Never the same. Heart of a lion though.
I agreed that cotto 140 was really good, canelo 154 not soo much, I like the 160/168 version better. My opinion of course

Well, I do drink socially or when I cook. I do remember canelo fighting at 155 catchweight for a few fights then jumping to 160/168. I could be wrong but I think he did that.

do you think cotto was a better fighter than canelo ? if you do i respect it, just an honest question, but imho the best version of canelo is better than the best version of cotto, over all better defense, better offense, faster hands, harder puncher, better chin, timing, accuracy, etc cotto also has his pros, better jab, better footwork, better stamina, etc.. you can like em or not, but both great fighters...

Honestly, I think cotto is a better technical fighter.

Canelo won a fairly competitive fight against a near retirement version of Cotto much closer to his prime at a compromise weight which was fair given the respective natural sizes of both fighters. I tend to think a fresher Cotto would win a competitive decision.

Perhaps, or perhaps the opposition got easier.

I tend to agree with that assessment. Back at 54 he fought floyd, Lara, Trout and who else? 160 ggg, already past his prime and 175 bivol. Yeah, I think you're right.
