If he was in the era of Holyfield, Lewis, Tyson, Bowe, Foreman II, Morrison, Tua etc. where do you see him have fitting in?

Joshua is too robotic to compete with the top dogs of the 90s, at best he would be low level top 10 HW

Anthony Joshua has a better chance of success in the 90's, than Tyson Fury 'Because he hits fairly hard, and technically is a more polished puncher than Fury'.

But overall I don't really think he has the intensity, pace or durability to take over.

I don't really rate ether Fury or Joshua very high in terms of pure ability. I think a peak Waldimir Kiltschko and David Haye where better than both of them.

I think he would do well in any era. he has the size, skills and power to be a threat to anyone.

this is the worst crop of heavyweights in history. AJ would've been a multiple KO victim.

Nice thread, good idea. When I try to find a similar fighter to Joshua from that era Razor Ruddock pops into my mind. Ruddock, like Joshua was talented, but when fighting the best, he started resorting to instinct, and eventually, by the time he is fighting Tyson, he is a one armed fighter, dangerous inside. I see Joshua in a similar light. There are vids of Rudock sparring Holmes and it is amazing to see how good Razor was.

But when really pushed, like when he fought Tyson, Razor went right to where he was comfortable... Joshua was able to box and avoid Ruiz... a fighter with little reach, not in good condition, etc... But when Joshua is really b a l l s to the wall, he is a boxer puncher with a solid right. Holyfield was inconsistent at times, but at his better times I believe would have superior combos, boxing skills and resistance to Joshua and beat him easily... Tyson would destroy him, and Lewis would also destroy him. Joshua could beat a disinterested Bowe perhaps, could outmanuveur a limited Tua, and probably clip Morrison.

He would have been Lou Savarese.

He would have had a pretty record, he would have had a few bright spots against the better guys...

But he would have lost every time he stepped up. Just like Savarese did.

Lennox destroys him systematically. Bowe fooks up his day. Real Deal is smaller so AJ gives him problems with his size, but Real Deal gets the W. Tyson probably eats AJ up in the early to mid 90s. Foreman & Tommy Gunn have punches chances but I could see them losing if they didn't stop or at least hurt AJ. Tua is probably too small, but obviously if he catches AJ it's game over.

Randomly I think AJ vs Mercer would be a fun fight if they'd both existed in the same timeline. Probably depends on how hyped up Mercer was if he comes out on top.
