If I were Whyte I'd see much better pathways to big fights.
Whyte knows a title shot for him may never happen even if he wins against Povetkin because all the belts are tied up for years for him . Wilder would be a huge fight for him so he probably sees it as nothing to lose . Joshua , Fury , Ortiz , Wilder are the big fights for him , that leaves Wilder as the most probable and realistically it makes sense for him if he gets by Povetkin .

Slow news in the world of boxing. No one wants to see whyte vs wilder. No one cares. That won't sell out a high school stadium.

Ortiz a big fight? As in Luis Ortiz? That's not a big fight. It's a more evenly fight given Ortiz age. If whyte doesn't KO Povetkin by round 6, any so called big fight won't happen for him unless he's some BS mandatory down the road in 5 years.

I have no idea what you are thinking. The fight would do excellent numbers and it would most likely be an all action barn-burner of a fight with almost zero chance of going the distance.

IMO both Whyte and Wilder know they talk too much, just as both know they aren't as good as they portray themselves. I'd actually be surprised if Whyte beats Povetkin in the rematch... but would be way more surprised if Whyte beats Wilder. I agree Wilder is nothing special besides his punching power... but it took Fury's excellent strategy to best Wilder... and Whyte isn't even in the same universe as Fury in that regard. He'll walk into a Wilder bomb sooner than he walked into a Povetkin bomb... and that will be that. Just my 37 cents worth.

              Pathetic comment.

Wilder would be whytes best win and best pay day by a long way. If he had balls to get in ring with Wilder

Are you aware he just fought old man Povetkin, midget nobody rivas, and dinosaur wach.... and looked awful in all those fights.

Whytes right about Wilders lack of being a draw and he only made real money from Fury 2 and that was only because the event was pushed hard by ESPN and Fox and it still didn’t do the projected numbers

Whyte has no intention of fighting any of the top 3 , for any title. He just got almost killed by a 40 year old. And already turned down his title shot last year. After screaming he wanted it.

But all he's got to do is beat 'Old Man Povetkin' and the situation changes. He's capable of that.

WBC hasn't had a mandatory. He'll get his shot and it will be a much bigger fight with much more upside than Wilder.

The upside with Wilder is minimal. Sure it's a big fight, but if he beats Wilder then Wilder's career is over. It will never be considered a great win. And if he loses, then he loses his opportunities.
