we're just hard on invincible overhyped hometown heroes that get put out on their feet by a single blow from a fighter with less than 50% knockout ratio..

Youre right, thats EXACTLY what Corley said, that he was in trouble, and that when a fighter is in trouble he is allowed to take a knee. Gravity? Say what??

      • im not gonna say he has no chin i mean he has taken shots from every fighter but his defense is a lil overrated. IMO he would've taken out corley soon after but the fight was stopped. he lost my respect a lil but no like other people say he has no chin. he just got caught and the way to get back respect is for a rematch to take place and he has to finish corley this time. im a big fan of cotto btw.

How did he lose some of your respect? I dont understand that....he didnt ask the ref to stop the fight, and youre probably right about him finishing it anyway in the next round or two. So many pepole are trashing him and he did nothing wrong except fight recklessly and use poor defense. He's still so very young, and obviously has alot to learn. I still like him, ALOT, and am proud of him for taking those shots like a man and never going down. Him coming back the way he did impressed me too. He needed to be tested so we could see just what he's got, and he was.

          • idk i guess he had a aura of invincibility and i didnt want to believe that he could be hurt that easy, especially like that. i guess the right punch can do it.

NOBODY is invincible! They might like to think they are, and some of us may like to believe they are, but nobody is...not really. Being invincible would lose the fun for me..where's the challenge? Any boxer, I dont care how damn good and/or strong he is, can and will go down if hit in the right spot! We've seen plenty of evidence of that in the past year with Jones and then the body shot that took DLH down, so we have proof of that.
If they are invincible then there's no point in getting in the ring at all..you already know the outcome every time, and thats just no fun at all! But Cotto didnt go down, which was my point entirely. He took it and recovered and came back to win. Pretty impressive to me!

              • Did anyone notice how small those gloves were they were fighting with? compared to the balloons Hopkins and Eastman were fighting with a week earlier they looked tiny.

                • This fight reminded me of another prospect who was out on his feet, legs turned to jelly. Then he rallied back and like the Cotto fight, it was stopped way too early. He was trying to impress some french promoters, to get a contract. They sent him home without a deal, and everyone must have thought that's it an overrated prospect. He was Puerto Rican too, his name Was Felix Trinidad, the fight was with Alberto Cortes in Paris.

                    • He walked through ever punch that Chop Chop hit him with on the chin. The Shot that hit his temple was a winding shot and it was unseen watch the fight again Cotto is look right at him and he then wham it connects. Cotto was not himself that fight and since when does being shaken by a temple punch mean u have no chin?
