To be fair though, when Roy went out of his prime it affected him more than some other fighters.

No knock against Roy mind you, he did his thing, just another angle of observation on my part.

              Peace.
He was never elite, he gets exposed by people with mediocre boxing ability. I don't think much has changed about him, he's always been slow with his hands and feet. The only thing done changed is his left hook. In the later rounds he is more open for the right hand because he seems unable to hold his left hand up to block.

                Agreed.

But let's also take note that Jeff Lacy was never really deserving of the hype that surrounded him even pre-alzaghe. Because he was struggling to win certain fights even before Joe got his hands on him.

It took a true elite like Calzaghe to embaras and expose him, and I think it's unfair for people to say "he's never looked the same since" because honestly ; he never looked that special to begin with.

I agree. Roy looked great, but he was supposed to.

this is exactly what I'm talking about. I believe he had loads of trouble with Omar Sheika, Who was never anything more than a clubfighter. Anybody with mediocre boxing skill and decent hand and footspeed would make Jeff Lacy look terrible. Epifanio Mendoza, Vitali Tsypko, Peter Manfredo Jr. , and Otis Griffin(the reality TV "star") all gave Lacy all he could handle and all these guys barely crack the top 10 in supermiddle.

Roy was supposed to look good, sure. but two things for me...1 is that NO ONE could have dreamed he would look THAT good...and if u told someone the night he got KO'd by Johnson and the night he lost so widely in the third Tarver fought OR the night he fought Joe, if you said RJ will come back and look really really something in a stoppage of Jeff Lacy, who would have believed u?
